What have you done to stop the scratching ?

mitsubishi has altered the rubbers and i beleive they did this a very long time ago

the only model still effected is the outlander which is soon to be updated

How long is "a very long time ago". I have an MY09 and it has scratched windows, even with "the fix" from Solartint.

I bought my car in April and was told by car yard that the tint would scratch unless I purchased window seal/whatevers at a cost of $90 each or for the pair I can't remember.

Maybe the car yard were trying to get some more cash out of me?
You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

You know who you are :)

Is mitsubishi offering this fix to existing customers that bought the cars with the shit seals fitted?

My dealer has said they only fitted altered strips to the CJs from Oct 08 to Nov 08 build dates and then supposedly reverted back to the original seal design...

Mitsubishi wouldn't talk to me then and put me through to the dealer who told me the above.

I'll check my build date at lunch.

Re-rang Mitsubsihi and they are telling me I am incorrectly informed and there has been no revision to the seal designs on the CJ Lancer...

Sounds like bull-shit to me!

EDIT: Any chance you could give us anymore info on what you know Nick and if you have any bulletins or whatever on this....

Mine is Nov 08 and when I lowered my window all the way down to clean it, it has some rough felty thing on the outside bit while the inside part is still hard rubber.

there has been no reports of late of scratching on our tint so ryan if you think its bullshit keep your oppinions to yourself

mate seems any dealer out there has the potential to bullshit there customers into paying extra for a felt strip

our tint in house comes with a dealership warranty do you think we would apply a tint if it was to scratch and therefore create consistant warranty issues down the track

mitsubishi bulletins are not for the perusal of general public , as a cluib sponser our information should be good enough seeing as we deal with a hell of alot more vehicles than your once in 5 year buying cycle ryan

Take a chill pill, i mean I think I'm being fed bullshit from Misubishi down in Adelaide! Perhaps take 2 breaths and re-read a thread before you go in all guns blazing! :?

There is no bullshit about needing the felt strip, as even with it my windows have scratched (they are being opened/closed at least twice a day on my way to/from work) but are no where near as bad as I have seen on other MY08 CJs that i have seen with no felt on their seals. Not to mention it was a well complained about problem on the forums from other owners.

Is this found on the placard in the drivers door part? Bottom left corner?

Will just be xx/xx or does it actually say build date somewhere?

It'll just be month and year...

But does it say build date specifically or is it just the bottom left corner of that placard its stamped into with no other details?

Maybe the plates in the doors are the build plates and so the date would be the build date?

The compliance plate should say compliance date and build date on it, but it's in the engine bay I think... Will have a look at mine this afternoon.

Mine's May 08 build and June 08 compliance from memory...
