Door Vibrations
Hi All
Hopefully someone can help me out, I've rattled my brain out trying to find out where this damn vibration is coming from.
So basically when i play any sort of music with deep bass the drivers side door vibrates/rattles. It definitely coming from the plastic parts of the door around the handle/part just further up from the window control/plastic strip. Just when i thought i have found the part that's vibrating it comes back up again. i have tightened up 3 screws that i can find but still happens.
Is there something that I'm missing? Is there somewhere i need to be looking at specifically?

Re: Door Vibrations
That’s odd, I know my side storage compartment vibrates a lot when the bass hits from the speaker, what I would do is press down on any plastics in the car and feel around to see if itl stop on any part

Re: Door Vibrations
hmmm the storage compartment... didn't even think of that, it is large and flimsy...
oh it does my head in, i was thinking about removing the panel and maybe just sticking some thin pieces of rubber or foam to see if that will cut it down.
at the beginning it wasn't an issue but figured after time something has come lose and would be an easy re-tighten of a screw or something...

Re: Door Vibrations
Did it end up being that or haven’t looked around yet? The main issue I have is any objects in there loose they shake like crazy.. something to keep the part flexed would work well

Re: Door Vibrations
nah wasn't it... it really sounds like its coming from the top of the of the door.
is it just me or do the 3 screws that hold the door never tighten up? mine just seem to keep spinning =/

Re: Door Vibrations
I get door rattles too since I have an amp and some decent Alpines in the doors. It's annoying but I've never found out a way to stop it, and I've looked a few times

Re: Door Vibrations
Have you tried sound deadening? (Anything to weigh the plastic down)

Re: Door Vibrations
was gonna try and remove the panel today to see if i can find something that would be moving etc. but didnt get a chance at all this weekend.
i honestly think its the glossy plastic strip for me. but i don't know if when pushing down on that its pushing something else and stopping it. Although some videos i have seen online when taking the panel off there are a lot of other plastics in the inside being held down by screws. im thinking one of or maybe a couple are loose and maybe causing my issues...

if you fast forward to about 1:20 and you'll see a boat load of screws holding stuff down.
might have to save for next weekend task...

Damn yeah you’re right, I mean through age of driving the car can loosen things over time, wish you the very best sorting through all of that hahaha

Re: Door Vibrations
found some time after work today and i reckon i might have found it. behind the door handle/window controls there is a metal piece that which im assuming its there to protect the electronics of the door. anyways its held by 3 screws which were a little loose and that plate was moving, which might have been my source of the problem. either way all 15 or so screws tightened and from first initial test seems to be fine. will have to test more but hopefully that's it.

Re: Door Vibrations
Aye there you go! Too many loose parts and panels in the lancer makes it a tad bit harder then normal to identify those damn rattles, my mate had an SX once, near completely sound deadened it and loved it

Re: Door Vibrations
little bit of thread locker (not the stupid strong stuff) just to prevent the screws slowly coming loose again, might take a few thousand kms, but you never know, or leave a note inside the door for the next owner XD

Re: Door Vibrations
While you had all the geer off, should have wacked sound proofing in there.deadener sheet,
just a patch would do, on inside of outer panel to reduce drumming for starters!
Oh well to' each their own!
