I am in need of some advice.
I didn't make a meet last night because a stone chip that had started as half the size of a 5c piece turned into a 12 inch long crack in a block and a half!!
I am having it fixed under the glass option in my insurance and it will cost me nothing but my question is ....
1). Is the rain sensor made onto the windscreen? & if so ...
2). Won't someone a little more qualified than a windscreen fitter have to wire that up for me?
I was promised it would be no charge to me and I want to make sure it's done properly. I am going to ring mitsu first thing in the morning and ask them about it so I can make sure the insurer gets it done right.
Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

I was also wondering about this, but yeah it looks like it just sticks on from the inside.
I've also noticed how the windows are "attached" and they look alot different to other cars.
On a cruise I was talking to another CJ Lancer owner who said he had his replaced recently and it was worth something around $1300.. seems pretty pricy! (I'm glad I also get the glass breakage policy for $60 a year with my insurance )

Windscreens are only $600ish for the VRX the same price as the Sunroof glass. I know this because I've replace the VRXs windscreen twice and sunroof once. But they have to get a VRX windscreen as the ES and VR have film that covers where the sensor is stuck

Rock chips are annoying, I've got about 20 ( barely noticible unless you're looking for them ) tiny chips in the windscreen. I just hope they don't grow into huge cracks or anything over time.

I have the Comprehensive PLUS insurance on my lancer and to be honest when I got it initially I thought "this is just another way to rip me" but the last 2 days has saved me sooooo much money.
1). Windscreen cracks ... explain I have a policy on my insurance and I am told the windscreen will be replaced at no charge to me. 20mins after making the phone call it's all organised.
2). Told the windscreen takes a day to order (they don't stock windscreens costing $800) and due to the speed the crack is spreading advised NOT to drive the car unless it was to them. This sucked as I had some running around to do today.
3). Rang insurer to see if my hire car policy I also have would help me. 20mins later I finish finalising a hire car to use until my car is back on the road. $88 a day until car is fixed regardless of time. Cost me $200 bond for the car which they return to me when they get the car back. Went to get the car thinking they would give me a corolla or something ..... Toyota Aurion Sportivo! I picked it up from Newcastle airport so I have to pay $10 a day tax or some crap, but for 2 days and saving myself a trip into Newcastle = WIN!
So all up, I have a screwed windscreen worth $800 without fitting costs. I have no car until I can get it fixed.
Total charge to me? $20 + fuel in the Aurion.
I have left the name of the insurer out of this little OMFG HOW AWESOME ARE THEY speech since I am not sure about forum policy on that so PM me and I am more than happy to let you know.
Policy costs me $95 per month.

I was the first person in Aus to have a windscreen replaced in a VRX and had to wait 4 weeks for it to come on the boat. And Yes the VRX windscreen is chipped again so is the RAs. Unfortunately I'm only allowed one windscreen a year per car free as most insurance companies wont do unlimited for country people

I am 31yo and I have 1 at fault accident within the last 5 years which I assume would slightly increase the premium I am paying.
EDIT:
Got the car back today and it's perfect. The windscreen came from mitsu (not aftermarket) Novus Glass took care of the repair and even though I wasn't paying them any money they were very courteous and helpful.
