How's the forum these days
Hi all.
I'm Pierre (spunkybob) and I was one of the original members on this forum.
Are any of the old crew still around?
I sold my lancer is 2012 when my daughter was born and I never drove much as I was catching the train to work.
Thinking about buying another one and starting the mod train again.
Cheers all.
Pierre

Not many of us old folk around anymore. Most have sold their cars and moved on.

I do remember you though!
Many years ago there was some "issues" with some of the founders and I think a bunch of people left then.
Glad some of the OC are still around though.. we had the first CJ lancers and where there at the start of the modding scene.
I miss my CJ... After the ECU tune I was getting 6.3Lt/100 on the freeway and it was faster then most of the other non turbo (normal) cars.
Yeah I think I'll buy another one.. they seem sooo cheap on cars ales these days and a few with little Ks.
I sold mine with near 200,~~~ks on it and it drove as good as the day I got it brand new.
The only thing I had to replace the entire time was the clutch.

Good to see another classic member! The CJ way is the right way, makes me happy seeing so many high mileage cars with such reliability, gives me high hopes baha

There are a few of us n00bs around though, some lurkers, and there is talk of the club taking a new direction, my VR-X has done 260k and I am unsure of whether the clutch has been done, there is nothing in the books to suggest it has, and it still pulls like a school boy, though it could probably do with a beeble or merlin tune at some point =)

I've only been here about 3 years, since i got my first CJ. Not my first Lancer. Its been a good car and not even thinking of trading it in any time soon. Only been able to do minor mods to date but they add up.

Re: How's the forum these days
Well I need to chat with my wife and see what my non existent budget is.
I see a few ralliarts for around 10k so maybe (extremely unlikely) it could happen. Otherwise I'll get a vrx.
Since I had min it see a whole bunch of other models (SX etc.) And I have no idea what they have over the es, vr and vrx.

I personally if you’d be able to is to for the VRX/GSR or LS, any 2.4 seems to be a beauty, and even aspires! My missus might be looking at one in the future, they seem the best premium car for it age, some aspires got stuff my 2016 gsr doesn’t even have!

I would get an Aspire as they were the best ever model that came out in the lancers

This^ GPS, leather seats, sunroof of some, the 2.4 mighty engine, 9 speaker set up, I honestly wish they still made them as well as they did back then

Re: How's the forum these days
The main reason I went for a VRX was the extra toys like auto wipers and keyless start. The 2.4 was also a nice touch and for me more than enough get up and go for a daily drive. RA would have been nice but not in a position to get on yet.
Given the end is nigh for the CJ and the Lancer name we need a strong club with good support more than ever. Would love a meet later in the year for the Sunshine coast members, maybe a short hinterland drive in the cooler months as long as its a nice day.

Don't they only come in auto? I'll never drive an auto.
Re: How's the forum these days
Just some general advice based off my own experiences:
If you go for a VRX (Sport focused) or Aspire (Luxury focused) any year with a good price/service history and low mileage would do as the models didn't change much over the years.
If you go for an ES or variant (SX, RX, ACTiV etc. so many Special action models based on ES with alloys or other features) I'd suggest to get anything earlier than the MY12 as there are some significant changes to the underpinnings which limit easy mod-ability. They lost the rear swaybar, have electronic power steering over hydraulic and a different exhaust setup (muffler and possibly also manifold). Some of the later ES however came with spoilers or leather steering wheels and the Ralliart style front bumper so it can get messy when saying what is best or even what to compare with available cars over the years.
If you do end up back in a Lancer they are still easy to work on and have a reasonable back catalog of aftermarket or upgraded parts but would still be very familiar, not bad for a car that's been on sale for 10 years.

Re: How's the forum these days
Looks like the aspires do only come in auto! Interesting I never even noticed that! If that’s the go then VRX is the way! The es is the cheaper way to go, I know for myself driving the ES MY16 and owning a GSR MY16, The power and handling difference is very noticeable yet not margaihly major in difference, I personally would try opt for a 2.4 so theVRX in your case!
