YES, i had a huge argument on another forum, he had bad fuel economy and he checked everything, i sujested tyre presure he went right off saying that it could not be that, and it turned out it was his 4 tyres were half flat.

thank 4 bringing that one up - lol...
know off hand what pressure should be in 18's on a lancer? I'm a bit sus on my economy at the moment and new tyres could be the culprit?

Ryan and BD!
I actually checked my tyres last night, I like 'em to be max psi usually - and they were 32-35 psi - put 'em up to 39

Drove to city - 9-10 L/100km
Pumped 'em up to pressure while waiting for the girl to finish work...
Drove Home - 8.0 L/100km! Awesome :-)
Great info - the ride was so much more "on it's toes" too - cornering was better etc.

I was a bit sus on my pressures anyways - but didn't realise it could affect fuel consumption so much!

P.S. BD-350 I'm sorry i overlooked u initially, u bought this up! - U get +1 too ;-) Thanks!

Yeah a few extra PSI can make a big difference, I was told to do my 19s upto around 40psi because around the low-mid 30s was causing my rears to wear unevenly the tyre shop said. (although I suspect the wear is from when I dropped the PSI on a track day)

The steering will feel easier with a higher PSI but you actually will get a better grip under hard cornering with a lower pressure as the tyre distorts and grips more of the road. At wakefield park (a NSW track) I was running about 35PSI on a warm-hot tyre after just coming off the track which was like 30-32PSI when the tyres had some time to cool off. But like I said running pressures that low is bad for economy and tyre wear!

I filled up the tyres at 2 deg celcius - spose they got some 'spanding to do 'ey?
Might be up around low-mid 40's in the heat today?
I'll check 'em once the suns warmed the car a bit...

damn that was cold, poor victorians! nah they should be right, they'd have been a bit warm from driving anyway, and when I say 36-40psi that's cold pressure. After a while of driving they'll probably only reach 42/43 which is acceptable for city driving. The day I was at the track was hot and even with the tyres squeeling around every corner and accelerating to and pulling up from 150 down the main striaght (not to mention heaps of heat radiating from the brakes) I only saw upto a 5PSI rise and thats putting alot more heat into them than any city or even spirited country driving would!

You should grab yourself a little digital pressure gauge to whack in your glovebox, you can pick up a cheap one from Supercheap for like $20-30. I always pump my tyres to a bit over 41-42PSI and then use my digital guage to check them and lower the PSI back to 40, more accurate and consistent than relying on the servo guages...

yeah, I've heard about servo guages...
Got 2 little analogue ones here at work - usually I'll just use one of them!

Yeah, I'd say with that info my tyres should be right then - might creep up to 40 - 41 at worst if that's the case ;-)

what! ha ha ha! talk about cost-cutting :-P
HALF A BUN?!?! Fair enough if they leave out a pickle, but the bun?

That's like buying a car and they leave the doors off, or the engine out! - "oh sorry - how'd that happen?"

It should make it all the more delicious if you have to wait 'ages' for it.

I am usually too annoyed and leave it.

One night I was starving had no lunch. Picked up my girlfriend at the time from work and thought I would get some KFC. Went to the drive thru at about 9.15 and they told me they had no chicken... I was like WTF!!! So annoyed!!!
