CF key remote

Postby rasit.aslim » Thu Sep 21, 2017 5:00 am

Hi guys,

Is it possible to replace the 17' CF Lancer key remote with this flip type? https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/3281918 ... 9#autostay

The current key has 3 buttons, lock unlock and boot open
Anyone converted their keys with one? If so how much did it set you back?

Looks like it is just a shell and you would have to destroy your current key to fit all the components inside.

I'd stay away from this as even in the photos given the build quality looks questionable, would suck to have a key break off in the barrel.

could try the GSR cf key, although it isn't a flip key it's a pull out one, since the higher trims are keyless start
We are all in it for the fun!

Don't the mister minit key guys at most malls do this kind of thing? I know they tend to be a tad on the expensive side, but wouldn't you rather have the ability to take it back to him and jam it somewhere the sun don't shine should it ever fail?

Have a chat to a local lock smith and see what you can find
Brace yourself for a price tag of at least $200

A new key from Mitsubishi is around $400, so probably better to be safe than sorry and not do it.

Not possible apparently from mister mint. Said the new keys have some sort of electrical ID and can’t be retrofitted to any key. Needs to come from Mitsubishi.

No need to buy the keys direct from mitsy.
You can if you all cashed up.
Im not so i bought one from korea for under $100 and got a locksmith to cut and program it.
Mr minit will say they cant make the boot button work.
From memory they used a MUT3 or similar tool to access the ECU and make the new keywork. It has a boot unlock function just the original.

However its not a flip style key. Just a standard OEM key.

I like the Lancer fob, most days I never see it. Stays tucked in my pocket and most times I don't even touch the fob, just use the door locks to lock the car. One of the best things I like about my VRX is the keyless entry and start.

I've never seen women working at Mister Minit...

Simple chip keys can be copied at a couple of hundred dollars. Ring around though, prices can vary greatly. Keyless keys are much harder even though without the key, keyless is left with just 'less'. Less is more, in this case the price!
I might add a pic of my car once I style the exterior a bit :).
