Sun Shade

Postby Lancer1993 » Fri Jun 02, 2017 6:57 pm

So just wondering what out people are putting in there wind screen to keep out the heat in summer, yes its now getting cooler but its a good time to look in to something for next summer and for those of us in warmer parts it still can get hot here during the day.

My Cars screen is only about a year old but it already starting to break up.
Got mine on eBay but found it a little small at 140 x 70 cm.

Please post photos and links wo where you got yours.

Note some cars have a tinted section across the top of the wind screen, perhaps tint in similar location on yours will help a little.

Screen breaking up?

i got one that was a little bigger than i needed. this allows me to prop it up using the driver and passenger visors and the rear vision mirror. less chance of it falling down

Yeah I do the same with this one, even though it came with suction caps to hold it in place the never really worked well in the heat.

I used to only use exterior ones which I still think are better most of the time because the stop the light and much of the heat entering the car in the first place. Only down sides are rain and high winds.

My knob (not alloy) and wheel never get that hot when I have the shade up, if it is you really need to change where you're parking in the summer, doesn't do the car interior or paint much good in the long term.

Yeah, at school its an open gravel section with no shade, and at home im outside... noticed my clear coat coming off near the wing mirrors, looks like my mod money is going towards painting lol

I had to buy a sunshade for 4wd / vans! The normal sized ones fall down and too short for CJs! I use the sun visors and centre mirror to hold it up, no need then for suction caps! It is a little to large across but it helps keeps the heat off the gear knob and the worst the leather seats! Tinting all your other windows helps a lot too!

The thing that i find the best is thinking about how you park your car! Park it so the rear gets the afternoon sun, it keeps the front seats, steering wheel and gear knob cooler so you don't burn yourself in summer time! All this can make a huge difference i found

If I have to park in the sun all day I try finding a place I know will be shaded in the afternoon, so at least the car is cooler when I need to get into it.

Anyone been able to find one with Lancer or the Mitsy logo on the front. My current on it from 'Cars' but looking for something more grownup, maybe a Star Wars one :)

Could always investigate getting a blank one and doing the logo yourself?
would imagine some vinyl with some sort of sun protective coat over the top would work wont it?
