Here's an interesting idea, how easy/hard would it be to install a boot release button on the dash using the same electric release the button on the boot/remote uses?
The annoying thing with the floor release is too often I pull the fuel one.
I know its probably over kill having the release button on the boot and remote but could be useful way to stop pulling the wrong cable but still have it there as a backup.

I thought the CJ already had some kind of actuator in the boot lid that works with the button and remote?
If this is the case it should be a 'simple' job of wiring up a push to hold switch (like the ASC button) to the boot release.
Its one of those things that is probably easier to do that it sounds once you have the parts.

Not sure if I'd want it there, is there an over ride so you can't open it when driving?

Re: Boot Release Button on Dash?
I dont see the point either was just finding the part number to help. I wouldn't have a use for one with the smart key

Happy the way it is. also button on the key is a great extra.
Why clutter up the dash any more, with something that is already available and just as convenient
