Re: Not a nice start to the day!
I guess there was hidden damage to the boot panels?
Maybe I should have requested a color change LOL

They repaint the rear guards to make sure they get a good colour match with the rear bar.

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
Why not just paint the whole car for me then and change it to canary yellow for me
Re: Not a nice start to the day!
I am possibly wrong, but are you sure you read it right and quote doesn't mean each item price is shown.
So actual cost isn't $1700 but $1700 -$875 = $825?

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
That's really cool that they provided photos of the repair, haven't heard of insurance doing that before.

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
Got the car back a few days early, looks nice and new but since I got the front bumper done also it looks wrong without some CF wrap in the middle. Will sort that in the coming weeks.
I'll post some photos asap.
It has a total at the end of over $3400 including GST.

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
Got hit in the rear and only visible damage was the bumper and rear quarter panel and cost was just under $8,000
Your bill as sent to your insurer, should itemize parts used and cost of each plus labor content etc: for each.
Usually a list of 2 to3 pages or more.

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
Yes I do have a multi page itemized bill.
Doesn't take much to be very expensive, I can just imagine if I was sandwiched between 2 cars and have front end damage as well.
At first inspection there was no damage to the visible rear metal but the bit between the lights where the latch is was clearly pushed in as the boot would no longer close so there was some work done there to line things up and make sure the boot would work. It does but seems a little harder to close, maybe it need adjustment on the latch?

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
Forgot to add a photo, the pain was worth it for a nice new tidy rear.
Also got them to repaint the front bumper while it was there.

Give the boot a chance provided all gaps are equal, for a week or two, it will probably settle in. Mine did.

Re: Not a nice start to the day!
Yeah even now it seems to be back to normal... now if only it was easy to add an auto open/close function for the boot
As for the front I'm extra careful not to scrape the side pods on driveways, not that I did much before but the previous owner had as they were marked on the underside a bit.
Still need to do something around the number plates like it was before and replace the 'TOW' sign I had LOL. I will be getting one of those boot/bumper protectors in the near future, the metal strip that sticks to the top edge of the bumper like this...

I assume that's not a CJ.
Only wish I had more photos of the work in progress.
