I'm not too familiar with CF and ADR's but i'll see what I can find on it.

just done some more specific research it seems it is illegal becasue of its habit of shattering it needs to be automotive steel otherwise be prepared to be slapped with a nice yellow sticker and a fine

yeah, the shattering seems to be the main reason from what I can tell.
the CF shatters/snaps where the steel crumples.

I can wait it out for a steel hood to be made :)

you could paint it but if a clued on cop pulls you over for a roadworthy check ,

i like to deal in what if's because I am always the one who gets done

not to mention you have an accident and your insurance dodges your claim becasue your car is unroadworthy

Pretty awesome when it snaps in half and flies back through your windscreen decapitating you!

Hmm, I do like my head where it's at :P

yeah that's also a good point, it's another way for insurance to dodge a claim.

Agreed, I'll probably wait for a proper steel/alluminium one too, hopefully there will be a group buy when one is made - custom made would be more expensive though wouldn't they?

Getting a custom one fabricated to fit would cost a small fortune.

If you did get it done, you could sell them and make a fortune back though. After you've sold a few you could do an exchange program where you actually retrofit peoples old hoods.

Even then it may be cheaper to buy a hood from Mitsu and retrofit/cut apart/put vents in it and then onsell.

Is there anyone who is making aluminium bonnets like the RA has on them now? Not factory of course, after market.
You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

You know who you are :)

Ok have done a bit of research and i turns out fibreglass bonnets or bodykits aren't illegal as they can be ADR approved (ie Blits Bonnets and Bodykits, Talon Bodykits) so if you can find a fibreglass company that is willing to ADR approve there stuff you should buy it and tell us all lol

Doing all the ADR tests costs quite a bit doesn't it?

Like in excess of 10k or something ridiculous

Surely you don't have to replace the whole bonnet to get the look. Isn't it just a case of cutting your existing one and welding the air intakes on and reshaping the centre of the bonet??

I'm not saying it is easy, but if you have the skills would be a far cheaper alternative.
