Bonnet Warning Light
Okay found out something today while washing my CJ, there is no warning on the dash when the bonnet is left open or popped but on the safety latch. Is this the case with all CJs or just older ones with a red dash display.
Its a bit strange when my doors and boot warn me but not the bonnet, would also be nice for the fuel flap.
Mine is a MY09 VRX.

There should be, my 08 X MR did aswell as my 08 VRX
Should flash up "close bonnet" and beep

Thanks, I'll check tomorrow.
Anyone know the type of switch it is?
I mean some are designed to be active when the wires are not connected, so when the circuit is broken the warning comes on. I mean if there is an issue its usually with the switch stuck in the (bonnet) closed position. Which is not good for warning the driver and not good for the factory security if it doesn't know if someone has opened the bonnet.

if the year model didnt feature it will probs require some etacs additions to register it, might have to acually pin it into the ecu harness tho

Re: Bonnet Warning Light
I know this hasn't been used in a while but found some info I thought I'd share.
Found this website with info on how to do this and it looks easy.

Not sure if it is as simple as getting the switch and wiring it up, thoughts?

Re: Bonnet Warning Light
Easy way to check, if you have the wiring there for the switch, get a paper clip and bridge the 2 contacts in the connector, make sure the paper clip doesn't touch any metal of the vehicle, and check if the light is on in the dash
OHH YEA!!!!

Mine looks like that.
This is the one you need part number 5908A009 for RHD (Australia), LHD has a different part number 5908A010.
Annoying you only really need the wire park which appears to fit the other latch, I'm gonna check with some wreckers this week.

You have the LHD/RHD round the wrong way? The link I posted was for the 5908A010 from Amayama
Micro switch from Jaycar could do the job if you can't find one on a wreck?

Re: Bonnet Warning Light
Sorry, I'll correct my other post...
Anyway I called the dealer today and its about $75 from them for the 5908A009 (RHD) one.
Not checked the wreckers yet, might tomorrow if I get time.
Its a shame someone doesn't just supply the cable, its all you need and it screws right on. Not sure if something from Jaycar would work, needs to be the same plug and exact switch for it to work.
You'd assume a couple of wires with switch and plug would cost way less than the whole metal latch thing. So if the wire brakes or the switch stops working they need to replace the whole latch? I'd also assume a latch like this would be a common item with the exact same part found on many Mitsubishi cars.
