Change Gear Lever Boot Cover

Postby Lancer1993 » Wed Mar 23, 2016 7:24 am

Just wondering if anyone has changed the cover on the gear change, did it on my old coupe but not sure how to get to the one on the CJ and how it's attached or what one you need to buy?

It's fairly easy to get to.

Leaver out the coin slot/buttons on console in front of handbrake, use a screw driver or better yet a knife.

Pull up from the hole left and the cup holder panel will snap out.

Pull up on gear surrond panel and it will snap out.

Depending on model there will be 2 phillip head screws holding in panel with ash tray and lighter, later models dont have screws and will just pop out.

Gear stick knob will either be a snap on or screw on dependant on year.

Boot is held on ash tray panel by 4 screws underneath.

The whole floor console is only held by 2 bolts in armrest box and 2 screws up front, rest just all snaps off.

Thanks, with my VRX the bit the gear leave is attached too looks separate to the forward bit where the ash tray would be. Mine has the 2 doors/pockets.

Looking at using one of these.
