My Mitsy dealer said they can't do it but was a little cryptic and said it can be done other ways, maybe the special code when it specifically to replace one under warranty or a dealer supplied replacement part?

But like I said before there is a place in Brisbane (and other cities) that can do it, takes about 3 days and costs about $300, they just need to know the ODO to set it to.

So you can either estimate a reading for the future and when you get to it swap or just have your car off the road for a few days.

Still think its a cool mod and well worth it, might still get that one and just save up to do the reset.

No idea man but it got changed.. they had the old car for a day and next day was good

Maybe some dealers further from a capital city have the equipment to do it and like I said if its under warranty then there is no charge either way?

I asked 2 dealers and they weren't even sure if the ASX cluster would fit a CJ... guess it's who you know and how clued in they are to such things.

One guy was in the spare parts area, the other was the head Mitsy guy in the service department.

I know it's not a common think but they really should have some idea what parts work with what models and which are interchangeable.

It's been said here that they fit?

The odo is just a EEPROM programmer and some software??
Why get the dealer to do it when with some parts and knowledge it's DIY?

We've been here before... if it was that easy I would not trust any 2nd hand car with an electronic ODO and any dealer would be set up to do it.

That's OK, perhaps don't trust them, but it IS that easy.

The dealer should be able to do it but obviously Mitsubishi don't train them all how to do it.

I contacted this mob also in Brisbane for a second quote, waiting on a replay from my email.

Still tossing up between this on a touch screen stereo which will cost more I know.

If it was just the cluster cost and an hour at the dealer I'd get it done ASAP.

Just saw this one on eBay, only $135 from VIC. Contacted them but they recon it's from a 2007 and red but the center bit looks bigger than my 2009, and the dials are on the correct sides for the color ones. Any experts here can tell if it is or not?

Also is there any difference between the color Lancer and ASX ones, do the ASX have more details? I know they are interchangeable and will fit the CJ.

I can't confirm.

I did take a good look around at clusters online for ASX and Lancer. For all the color ones, the RPM gauge has a distinctive styling to the upper RPM band compared to that of the non color display.
I checked outlander as well (not that I am saying they are or are not compatible with CJ Lancer)..

I can't find a similar look.

I'm betting it's a red one, because the RPM gauge styling doesn't seem right with the color LCD.

Maybe the very first CJs had this one?

Plus the price is too low for a colored one and given the eBay page for this seller looks like they only sell Mitsubishi parts.

Thanks for the feed back.

OK. .Some more digging and the spacing of the LCD seems different too.. the red ones have more plastic between the RPM gauge and the LCD..
I'm curious.. but not $130 curious..
You'd never get rid of a red one..
