I flushed my brake fluid a few months back, and topped it up correctly to the max line. I just had a look at it and for some odd reason, the brake fluid has passed the max line point. This is the same for when the engine is cold or warm. Is this normal?

have you changed your brake pads after topping up? perhaps a service?
when you pads get worn away they require more fluid to push whats left of the pad onto the disc. the fluid will drop but its really not that much.
after replacing those pads with new ones the fluid required is very little to push brand new pads. so it will just sit higher now.
if the fluid is still good, grab a syringe and suck what you need out.
remember to throw away the syringe as the glycol in the brake fluid will eat away at the rubber seal in the syringe making the next time you use it worthless.
