Rust repairs advice needed

Postby Lancer1993 » Sun Oct 04, 2015 7:38 pm

Rust :(

Not in my CJ but on the boot lid of my CC. Noticed a patch in the middle, not poked it too much but it looks like it's come through from the inside where the two make parts meet and are bonded but in this on they have been separate for a long time.

I don't want to spend a lot of money but want it to look good/saleable.

Think I need to sand where the surface rust is, I do have some anti rust paint but will need some duco paint to match the color and, even if I do just around the area and try and blend it to match.

Option 2 is fix the rust them cover the whole boot with some carbon wrap :)

Advice please

Could potentially look at a wrecker and find a second hand one the same colour. May be easier

But first would be to determine whether it's come through
Then remove rust sand and fill

This is for a 93' CC coupe so finding one in good condition is unlikely, stupidly I got ride of another boot lid last year which would have fitted and was in good condition but would have needed a new paint job.

I don't think there is much wrong with this one once I fix the minor rust spot.

Suggest you use a rust killer after cleaning it and prior to painting.
