Car Sound electric Error

I believed I burned my car sound electric while trying to remove the headunit along with the Emergency light and Passenger seat alarm. I pulled pretty hard on one of the cable connector from passenger seat alarm side. Now , my car watch is dead and radio is completely off. Any idea where to look first or should i go straight to Car audio shop for diagnosis ? Model is 2008 Lancer ES. Thanks for the help

inspect the cable\connector that you pulled. verify that all wires exist and are not damaged or snapped.
check operation of other electronics in your car (mirrors?, power windows? AC? etc)
then check fuses

then you would start to follow general troubleshooting and will require a multi meter to continue. If this is out of your scope i would take it to car audio shop or auto electrician or Mitsu.

I snapped one of the cable form Emergency light bar .

No idea how to fix the wire

Have to go to mitsu for the fix hope they wont charge me much

Just crimp the cable back together or solder them back together.

Went to dealer / auto electrical . None of them can do that as i broke the ribbon cable . The only options is to replace the whole radio player which is expensive. After searching on google . i found one forum about that ribbon cable. here is the link

Where does that ribbon plug in? I don't get how this ribbon works with the radio HU when it's nothing to do with it.

Maybe try the wreckers or look at upgrading to a touch screen HU?

I guess it's a warning to any of use doing work like this.

that ribbon is circuit together with radio HU for hazard light and seat belt alarm. I think even if i upgrade to the new Head unit i will still need that ribbon to connect for the new headunit .

Okay I just don't get how it connects to 3rd party HUs from the likes of Kenwood?

you dont need this crappy flex cable for aftermarket HU or MMCS.
this is only used for the original head units.

Hey man!
So ive got a facia witha busted display but a functioning white ribbon that your sseeking, i too made a mistake when installing some car audio stuff, burning out the dot matrix display, however you can have it if youd like to salvage the white cable, Located in Melb too.

Thanks For all the reply . So i just took that out again and try to put it back and look closers.

The cable looks fine but i can't put it back ( too short or i dont know how to put it back) I can still use the hazard light however there's no power for the seat belt alarm anymore . i think i damaged that port and radio is still no where working

I checked all the fuse and they all have power so nothing wrong with fuse . what do u guys think ? I Think my CD player is gone

So the ribbon send power to the stock HU display?

That I am not sure . But it's the only cable that connection to HU display that will give power.

Actually I think it might link the buttons on the fascia to the main HU as the fascia comes off separate to the HU.

The white ribbon is a FFC (flat flexible cable). You need a 8 pin with 1mm pitch cable. The length depends on what you're doing I'd recommend over 12 inches so you get some slack/play. Should be able to find them locally or on eBay.

Mitsubishi is known for tying lots of unrelated systems together saves them time on the production line. The cable connects the hazards to your headunit and sometimes if broken may set off error codes such as ABS.
