Bodykits Kingdom

Postby Swerve » Fri Sep 04, 2015 8:45 pm

Just my experience with dealing with this company, I purchased a pair of bonnet struts from them on the 28th of July. This package only has to get from Brisbane to Darwin. My expected delivery date was 3rd of August at the latest.

On the 14th of August I contacted them to find out where my parts were. They then informed me they had sent them to the wrong address and had already resent the bonnet struts. I was annoyed that they didn't think of telling me this issue, instead they waited until I contacted them. Secondly, they gave me a tracking number this time. I am quite patient and completely forgot about the gas struts.

Last week I noticed my 15,000km service was coming up and so I wanted the struts installed before the service. I decided to track the parcel, unfortunately the tracking number apparently didn't belong to any package. I shot off an email to them as my phone went through the wash. I wanted to know why it's still taking so long, a week later I've still received no reply. So far it's been 6 weeks to get a package from Brisbane to Darwin.

TL;DR:

Waited almost 3 weeks for bonnet struts that the company sent to the wrong address. Spent going on 4 weeks waiting for the resent bonnet struts. Tracking number provided is invalid and no replies to email.[/b]

That's not good, I'm considering getting something from them, might be easier to borrow a trailer and pick it up, good thing I'm only 90 min away.

I think one issue with gas struts is because they are gas they need to go by road and not air but 4 weeks is too long.

Typical. The fitment of a lot of their products is crap too

I've been told this, any idea on what to avoid. Also would it be better to just buy something like a rear bumper and get someone else to paint and maybe fit it?

I'm looking at a rear bumper, either a RA for $430 or the EVO style for $600. The EVO one is supplied from Taiwan and both are PP Plastic (not fiberglass) and 'Perfect Fitment, No Modification needed' they say.

Silly question, with the seats down will a CJ bumper fit in the back on a CJ sedan?
Also what is the likely value of the stock bumper?

I've not seen any at the usual places.

Is there a tread on this with others who have done a EVO rear with new exhaust?

I'd prefer to buy the bumper, then get it painted or even attempting a DIY paint job and then fit it myself. Then get the exhaust made, so balancing out the costs over a few weeks or as long as it takes and not one big payment.

I got a ralliart bar from them....there is a thread on it on here...just have to find it. I also bought a lip to fit to it, and that didn't even fit...it definitely needed modification (oh well..it ended up falling off on the M7 anyways...)

I bought an evo 10 'style' front bar from them too. I know that genuine evo bars don't fit standard Lancers but their ad was for a replica bar, not genuine and was also advertised for NA Lancers - they even said it would be a direct fit. The fitment is even worse then the RA bar from BKK :( they installed it and painted it and the paint job was pretty poor too.

A lot of people will say that aftermarket parts will never fit perfectly and some even say genuine parts won't fit well either. But there are some out there that will fit pretty well - I think Mars Performance are pretty good and Rainbow Pen possibly....

Im not too sure in terms of the possibility of an evo bar fitting in the back of a sedan.... it would be pretty difficult, maybe find a member with a sportback?

Up to you where you get it painted and fitted.....just try and go somewhere reputable.

Thanks for the heads up,

I agree if it's designed to fit the NA then it should. I know the EVO is wider and it won't work.

I know a place that has done work for me in the past painting the roof and back of my old coupe, maybe it would be wise to see if they can source parts like this? Can't hurt to ask.

Well they've still not gotten back to me. I've bought a bonnet from them I'd say it's a decent fit it looks genuine unless you know what to look for and are standing right over the bonnet. Mainly the rubber seal at the front shows a bit more. My only problem is probably not BKKs fault was that whoever delivered the bonnet left it on the street leaning against the front fence.

Mars Performance will be where I buy my bumpers and stuff from. One of the angel eyes in a headlight purchased from them has gone out and they got back to me about the issue within the day on a weekend. Awesome customer service and quality products.

I know someone who bought the front plastic lip from here and it fits great, I have seen it in person. It looks great too.

I haven't had a kit or such from them. I do know they don't paint their own stuff. Not even 100% sure they fit them either. May outsource that as well...

But as a general rule, aftermarket kits rarely fit. Coming from the days of veilside everything, we literally had to custom fit (bog etc) all kits. Getting a body part to fit off the bat was like winning the lotto. This was true for all workshops from Jetspeed to DMD to Arespeed etc. Cyber and Talon were the workshops that produced decent fitting kits back then.

I'm not sure about the market now a days, where a lot of kits are mass made in HK and shipped over.

Oh, you shouldn't have to wait that long for struts. To be honest, I remember seeing some mitsubishi gas struts there a month or so back in their warehouse...

It's not so much the product but the service. They could of contacted me and informed me about their mix up instead they left me to wait in the dark, I only found out after I contacted them.

Now the second parcel has taken almost a month and still hasn't arrived. Plus the tracking number is non existent. They also haven't replied to any of my attempts to contact them for the last 2 weeks.

Mars Performance on the other hand I ordered headlights and taillights from them over the Christmas period. They rang me to tell me they had an inventory issue, I'd have a longer wait time and they gave me free bulb upgrades. Just this weekend I noticed one of the angel eyes in my passenger headlight wasn't working. They replied to me on the weekend within a few hours. Now they're either gonna replace a part or the whole unit. They have awesome service.
