Ralliart/Evo front bumper on a VR?

Postby 3Mack » Tue May 12, 2015 11:50 am

So in a week or so my car will be going into smash repairs and a new front bumper will be ordered; insurance told us we could order in different parts if they fit the model; will a Ralliart/Evo front bumper fit onto the mounting brackets for my 2008 VR? What specifics should I ask for?

Ralliart bumper will fit. EVO X will not as the EVO is actually wider.

You can get EVO X style bumpers online (mars\bodykits kingdom etc) but they are not OEM and whilst they will bolt on to your car with no dramas the precise fitment may differ. ie bigger gaps etc.

search around on here there have been people with kits from all sorts of places. they will give you their advice.

If you do go aftermarket try to get the same plastic material as your OEM (ABS plastic)
so that dents can be popped back out rather than have the plastic shatter.

Will any specific year model Ralliart bumper matter? Or would I be safer asking specifically for an 08' model?

Mitsubishi can advise you if there are different part numbers.

if your going through one of their repair centers they will get the right parts and clips.

The NA CJ lancer had a facelift a couple of years ago and the Ralliart front Bumper is now standard.

Don't forget you will need a new engine undertray.Tha RA front is longer than the standard Lancer one.

I live in the country, so It's going through a local smash-repairs place. Parts being ordered from a proper Mitsubishi dealer though.

Thanks for the insight, guys.

The conversion has been spoken about a number of times here:

Things to note if you do this, you will need new fog lights (the fog lights are different and cost about A$300 each side) and new fog light surrounds and your will need to change your under panel as well.
