Accelerator Lag

My 2011 SX is going in for it's 4th service with only 27K on the clock.

Ever since new it has, in my opinion, accelerator lag meaning when I accelerate from standing still like at lights or a roundabout there is a lag when I press the pedal. I am not talking foot to the floor stuff just ordinary accelerating there seems to be this lag where it takes the pedal at least a good two inches before the car takes off.

Now I have mentioned this on previous services and keep getting told its the "fly by wire" control and nothing can be done.
Does anyone know if this is correct and if not what do I say to get the service guys to check it out.

It's at times dangerous when the car takes a good couple of seconds to get going but when it does it picks up ok.

Not sure about the 'fly by wire' but it might just be the low RPM, I noticed the 2.4 in my VRX is lazy below 3000rpm, until the MIVEC kicks in so I've learnt to drop it back a gear to get it going.

Is yours an Auto or Manual?

That still has the manual option doesn't it?

There might be a problem but I think its the MIVEC and how much RPM you have dialed in.

Yes it does have the manual option but as an old bloke I have never used it. Not sure how I dial in RPM is that just putting my foot down more?

As you know more RPM comes in with a lower gear. Much easier in a proper manual.

It does sound like a drive-by-wire issue.
You only feel the delay if you are used to/have driven a cable throttle car.
I had a few wrx' in the past, and they started switching to DBW from the 06s.
I had an 05 (cable throttle) before switching to an 07 (DBW).
It was a night and day difference, it might not be for those who had never driven cable throttle before.

The evo10 that I have now is an auto SST (i think manual would be slightly better), it has a massive throttle delay which has caused some issues such as when you have to switch lane, and you turn the wheel, power doesnt deliver right at that moment, and to top it off it has a turbo lag. So it really isn't an ideal daily driver in stock form.

Now the solution is:

A device that supposedly will improve throttle response, i have yet to experience it myself but would be keen to hear others opinions.

The crappy stock response is a combination of MIVEC and THROTTLE maps.

Get it tuned properly and the car will get lively - as it should have been.

Thanks for the replies everyone and I will push the service guys at the dealer to at least check it and adjust if necessary. I just thought it might be a quick fix at service.

I don't think it can be done at the service place.
Your best bet is to spend a few hundreds to get it tuned.

That's for the more informed details, IMO you should be able to get your CJ tuned at a dealer or does Mitsubishi have something against that?

What if you get you CJ tuned then the dealer has it for a service and changes it back. Only ask as mine is under a used car warranty where they have to do all services and repairs. Not sure is tuning is covered, might have to ask them.
