I don't think it was the display, more the reflection off the plastic cover in the midday sun.

I know exactly what you mean with the screen glare on the dash. When the sun is at a particular angle (able to shine directly down onto the steering wheel arm) the plastic screen cover reflects the light completely, blocking the view of the dash. Very annoying. I wonder if a 10% tint at the top of the windscreen would do the job.

Or something like this!

FYI the card with the wrap on it got a little warm Monday (car parked in the full sun all day) even with the windscreen cover on some of it became unstuck. Might have to so some of the other CF wrap I did as it's not holding well.

I don't like the hard plastic inside the car.
Soft plastic would have given the interior a much nicer feel.

For the first time since getting the CJ I screwed up at the pump, needed to back up on a weird angle to make the nozzle reach

The 93 CC coupe I've owned since new it's on the right, so I've had 20 years of pulling up on the left side of the pumps.

Road noise is my number one pet hate on my lancer. However that gets repaired in a few days. It goes in for "sound deadening" on friday. Did some googling a few weeks ago and found a local car care centre who can do it for under $300

Noisy, traded in the tyres at 2,800ks couldn't stand the noise, fitted Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Pus 215 60 16 tyres boy what a difference
Quieter, more comfortable, fills the wheel wells better and speedo now spot on. Insufficient sound deadening, working on that.

Worthless restrictive snorkel, fitted RA inlet snorkel, got rid of wheezy sound on acceleration, replaced with pleasant roar under heavy acceleration, smoother operation, less restrictive breathing.

2.4 ltr motor should be offered as an alternative on lower spec vehicles and direct injection should already be there.

Speedo unreadable, reflection under many daylight conditions.

Most of above have been and are being attended to by me, quite successfully so far ie: sound level at idle 39db, and 66db at 100kph
be happy when I get it quieter then a BMW and Merc:

Love the car. My toy, enjoy playing around with it, even though its tough getting up and down at 84YO
Being basic model opens the door to how much you can do!!!

The tyres i have are "sunfull" cant remember the "type" of it.
However the thing to remember is vehicles are built to a price and the Lancer is no exception. I have owned quite a few vehicles over the years with varying degrees of road noise.
Once car that does have great sound deadening in it from the factory is the toyota camry. Sadly the Lancer missed out.however you still get an amazing amount of value for money with the Lancer. I have no doubt the aftermarket sound deadening im getting will work a treat. If you Google "nilrust protection products " thats the stuff im getting installed. I get it done this friday at one of their agents in North Qld. And its less then $300 so for the price i doubt i could replace the tyres for the price and why would i when there is nothing wrong with the tyres i have.

Sunfull? never heard of them...

It's not the stock tire so someone might have fitted the cheap option. A good set of tires can be as much as $250 each depending if you have 16" or 18" rims. The RE003 from Bridgestone are said to be very good when it comes to a quieter tire, I'm currently on Kumho with my VRX so 18", noisy but I've got used to it. Went on a 6000km interstate trip last year without any problems.

The CJ Lancer was great when it was designed 10 years ago, still good value, especially as a used car but its really starting to show its age when it comes to road and wind noise.
