Registration Questions

Hey guys

I got a few questions for ya'll about registering my car.

Just got the stupid thing in the mail and i was shocked by these 2 things.

The price!

and the ugly poo brown rego sticker.

1st question. I hold a concession card and health care card..not sure if their the same thing. Health care card is the medicare card? anyway! It says i will get a discount on the registration.

Any idea how much discount?

Second question is...

Since day one, ive dreaded that the day i have to re register my car, i will get one of those ugly poo brown registration stickers. Is there anyway i can get a different colour?

If i cant, is there anywhere else i can put it other than the front window?

I was thinking of putting it on my rear small window, just above where my tyre experts sticker is. Im pretty sure its not aloud but i may be wrong. Opinions?

A few answers to your questions Tadz.......

1. Welcome to the real world of cars......You don't own them, they own you!!!!!
2. Medicare card is different to a Health Care Card in Qld. With a HCC you can get around a 10% saving on a lot of things, but car rego isn't one of them (might have changed rules in the last few years) Your concession card should be around that much.
3. Coloured sticker - The only way around this is if your rego is in june/july, you renew it for 6 months to get it up to jan/feb. Then renew it for 12 months and the next year (2011) should be a different colour. 2010 is the year of the poo!!!!
4. You can place the rego sticker on the back left/right window panel or on the front window if you choose. But it must be clearly visible and not hidden by other stickers/items.

Moral of the story: You should always put aside $10 a week to pay for your rego when the time comes. !

Well ive got 25% tint on the rear windows, you rekon the poo brown would be visible through the tint? Ill find out later but yeah..

That should be fine. Its when you put other stickers and things on it that the cops start to pick at.

Well, if i get this discount thing, i might pay the rego tomorrow =(. Bring the bank acount down a little.

Probley open up another account aswell, just so i can save for next year since ill be on my p's :O

I wouldn't recommend putting the rego sticker on your tint Tadz,it may damage it and we are stuck with the poo brown for next year I'm afraid!
Maybe check with the RTA re rego discount online, they should be able to help

The sticker may cause tint damage because of the adhesive they use which will frustrate you more than a brown sticker will..........

I tend to put mine on the top left hand side of the front window and have half hidden in the tint strip. If a cop questions placement I tell them it avoiding the A/C vents.

Ive got my L plate on that side. Coz thats where i was originally going to put it aswell.

Concession card/Health Care Card will save you JUST 89 bucks... yes sounds ugly but this is it... basically you have concession only for registration fee which

Urgh...Well, at least its 89 more in my pocket.

Im heading to vic roads tomorrow anyway, see if theres anyway im eligable for any other sort of discount...doubt it but we shal see...

To my knowledge, you can't place it in the rear left window.
The wording on the letter (in qld) says something along the lines of you can only place it in the FRONT left window OR the windscreen. Just my 2c, I'm not 100% certain on this but thats how I understood it. I've seen people with it in the rear left window.
