I'll check with the dealer once I have signed the papers, would be nice for them to take care of it before hand if its on the list so I don't have to waste my time taking in my 'new' car.

Mine's booked in for tomorrow. Reading your posts on here I got paranoid so rang the dealer and you guys are right, he said that they'd need to inspect my car and because it's a RA, they'd most likely have to order the parts in which means I'd again need to take the car in. uggh.

He mentioned that they received an allocation for the normal Lancer range but because mine is a RA, they'd probably need to order parts in matching up the the VIN

Does anyone here with a black Ralliart sedan with orange wheels work at Knox Mitsubishi in Melbourne?

If so, look after my baby, dropped her off this morning :)

I got the letter from Adelaide, yesterday. My car has done 69,000 already. I wonder if I should bother???
I rather get my mechanic to do it in the next service, even if not free.
I do not trust dealerships. I took my car to Midas since know the owner and service every 10K not 15 as the manual says...........and only use first class full synthetic oil. The belt cost 49 dollars. I do not trust dealer to f up things.

Got mine booked in for the 22nd, which is annoying as I asked the sales person and he said if it was an issue it would have been done. So now I'm out of my 'new' car for half a day because they could not be bothered to run the VIN number.

I'm pretty sure this has to be done at any Mitsubishi dealer, it is more than the drive belts they check other parts so it might be pulleys and stuff which will cost a lot. Just go to the dealer its FREE and will only cost you half a day.

In my case Cricks has a strict service policy for it's 6 year warranty but in this case (a recall) its exempt and can be done for FREE at any Mitsubishi dealer, I asked and made sure I don't void the warranty I just signed.

Got mine booked for the 22nd here as well, as I'm working until then.

Apparently they've been "inundated" with requests about the recall as well.

See thats what I don't get, if its such a known issue then why the hell didn't someone at the Cricks Mitsubishi dealership run my VIN number or did they think I wouldn't check, do they really want to pay out potentially $1000s in engine repairs if the belts broke? Yes I got the good warranty cover with the car loan.

Hence why I'm not rushing out now to get it done. Had my car coming up to 6 years now so what's the bother waiting another month or 2...

Remember this recall also relates to ASX's & Outlanders so of course they will be flat out!

Got my car back yesterday after I dropped it off at 7:30am.

Got there at 5ish and they told me she's about 10 mins away. So I waited until 5:45pm (they close at 5:30pm) and one of the service guys told me they had to rush the part (as mine is RA, required different pulley) in and only received it late in the day hence the wait.

Glad they did as I don't have to take the car in again but hope they didn't rush it.

Drive belts and pulley was replaced, he showed me my old pulley and definitely had signs of uneven wear. Question is, will it happen again?
