I am a little concerned by them not even considering giving you warranty coverage less than 6 months after purchasing the car. If you know anyone that can give you a second opinion on the warranty and see if you do have an avenue to either get it all covered, or at least a little bit. Having the car develop issues with ETAC within 4 months of sale suggests that there may have been an issue there prior to your purchase that everyone has missed.

If you have to pay in the end, start up a kickstarter page. I'd happily give you a hand and throw in some $$ considering you're having a rough time at the moment.

Goodluck.

agree it is werid that this happened after i have had the car since it does 3 year used car warrnaty on it were i would pay $100 and they would cover the rest i was hoping it was only the boot as it might have been cheaper to fix but have no idea why the ETACS would be playing up :( etc if i did do a kicker starter page tho would it be allowed and how many people would help as i know there are worse people off then me with problems etc

If your car is a 2008 VRX so it would be out of the Mitsubishi 5 year standard warranty which makes sense as to why Mitsu are refusing to do it, you'd need to claim the problem through whichever company you bought the car from. If they deny it then I say threatening them with the ACCC/Fair Trading will get your point across. It might be worthwhile also reading through your contract about what the 3 year warranty from the Silver Service Assist Group covers.

It appears that the dealership has sold a used car and then onsold their "used car 3 year warranty" that a lot of them do. It is this warranty that is less than 6 months in and somehow not going to cover a repair. It definately needs some extra scrutiny.

This. Your 'extended 3 year warranty' is most likely only with the dealership you purchased it from. In this case your warranty claim would most likely be with the Silver Service Assist Group, not with Mitsubishi.

Surely the dealership should have discussed that then? Seems like your typical "we got your money so now we don't need to provide any real service".

Might be worth ringing the people that the warranty is through (should be on the paperwork somewhere) and speaking to them about a claim.

If you are confident that its the ETACS module you can replace it yourself.
look around for wreckers you may find it cheaper.

With ETACS, I find its a fusebox replacement or ETACS module or both. (located in glove box)
In your case i would take it to the provider who installed your tail lights.
And make them do the work. because it looks like during the work they may have damaged a connection somewhere which may be causing increased resistance in the circuit, which ETACS is going mental over.

well i replaced my tail lights back to the stock ones back in july daniel so if it was from wheni had the LED ones in why taken so long for the ETACS to play up?

Would you mind putting the name of the dealership or company that supplies the warranty along with what level of warranty you have up here please? I think you said silver something ...

I'd like to try find the details of the warranty online and take a read of it for you. It may not be covered, but something sounds off to me.

Also ... the work you had done to get the LED tail lights in and working. Was it done by a qualified auto elec?
