okay it is possibly that the boot is causing all of this has i took it mits this morning and it play up abit the car was off and the guy played with the boot latch and the a few minutes baby gurl popped the boot and the hazards came on and i could not turn them off so she is booked in next week on the wednesday instead of december to have a good look as the boot runs off of the same system as the doors etc which is why she is sending out more then one alarm of fb a few people have said see if they reset the ETACS appartnely they cant reset so have to put up with it for another week lol

How are you going with this? Did mitsu find a problem?

Did they connect to the cars computer and see if it was throwing a fault code at all?

Coming into summer I am interested to see how Mitsu dealt with this.

mits think it is the boot that is causing it as it does pop by its self they plugged her in but could not find a fault as stuff wasnt flashing on the dash when they did she goes in to get boot looked at she still plays up but i havent driven her since friday atm she is sitting in a shed at my boyfriends with the battery discounted as the boot does pop by its self even when the car is off and the hazards come on so we will see tomrw if she plays up who knows having the battery dsicounted this long might sort her out

If you need to drive it, you can remove the carpet on the top of the boot, and disconnect the plug that attaches to the boot release. It just means you'll need to use the boot latch if you need to access the boot.

Would be worth trying this and see if by disconnecting the boot electronically you still get the associated hazard lights problem. Could narrow things down for you.

Great idea Justin.

i'll keep the boot thing in mind if mits cant sort it out tomorrow

reconnected the battery this morning and it still did it so and the boot did pop by itself so it must be something to with the boot then i have heard the lancers will send out more then one warning if something goes wrong to get ur attention?

LOL I instantly thought of Herbie the VW from the movies and how it would have it's doors flap about and oil squirt from places you couldn't imagine.

Maybe it was just warning it's owners that something needed attention?

I've come to like the idea that your car is potentially possessed by a demon.

See if Mitsu can exorcise it. :)

Sounds like things are tough. Ignore your brother. Ex company cars are generally some of the best second hand cars to get because the companies keep the servicing up to date with them.

Hope everything improves and the car is something simple. Keep us updated. :)

Oh bugga :(
Good to here they figured out what the problem is, but kinda sucks that its not covered under warranty and costs quite a bit to get fixed.
Sorry to hear your going through a rough time, this is the last thing you need, something to happen to your car.

Maybe try Justin's idea of undoing the boot release plug and see if it stops it, might be a tempoary fix.

How long have you had this car for? Was there any kind of warranty giving from the place you bought her from?
There might be some other mechanics that specailise in Mitsis that may be able to help and might be cheaper then going through Mitsubishi.

If purchased from a dealer/wholesaler less than 3months ago and has travelled less than 5000kms it has a statutory warranty that they must abide by. If thats an avenue, Id pursue that.
