Welcome to the club.
The early model RA's are known to have a bit of a gearbox issue. especially the 09 models. 2010+ should be ok.
If when youre test driving and the gears are quite jerky or grinding then do not go for that car.
Depending on how much KM's it has it might have had the SST flushed as well. I know the early models are scheduled at around 50000km. later models are a lot later. You definitely want one that has been done at around 50k if possible.
im sure there are a lot of other tips... but these are just a few things off the top of my head. hope it all helps. and good luck in the hunt

Thanks for welcome peeps. Thanks alex. Yes im looking at nothing less than a my10. Does this mean the transmission will have been updated? What about if its a 2009 but a my10? best to avoid it still as made 2009? Is there a way i can tell from physical observation if it has the better transmission? The car im keen on will be getting racv inspection and the log book will have to have service history. My budget cant really stretch to a 2011 as i want to spend as close to $20000 as i can for a my10 with good service history. Thanks
