Installing Spoiler Accent Vinyl

Postby abc88 » Thu Sep 04, 2014 11:28 pm

Hi everyone,

I wanted to hear everyone's experience with installing the vinyl on the spoiler accents.

In the past I installed vinyl on glass by cleaning it thoroughly then apply mild soapy water to the vinyl and the glass and then applying, aligning and squeegee water out and wait for it to dry then remove clear adhesive.

Just wondering for the spoiler do I need to use wax and grease remover? it's a new car so I assume dealer had waxed it up. Would the wet method work on body or only glass?

Any ideas? I prefer wet over dry install because I found I had less air bubbles and can align it but haven't had much experience on the body installs.

Thanks :)

Might do a video tutorial as I haven't seen one on this task yet

I always prefer wet - lets you move things around.

Assuming the car's clean, you don't need to remove anything, just clean the surface with a dab of methylated spirits and a quick buff with a clean cloth and apply the same way as if it was glass... :-)

Do you mean this?

Just make sure the surface is clean and put a little dish washing detergent and some water in a spray bottle. Spray and apply, slide around to fit and push out the air bubbles out with a cloth. Easy.

Omg yes :) Looks great!

Just received mine thanks to Irving, was hoping to install it tomorrow but wasn't sure if it'll slide with wet method. Have seen some vinyl that stick on hard even with water.

Thanks for the advice

Here we go :)

Anyone have any tips on washing? seems like the sharp bit of it will easily lift or maybe it's because it's thick it feels like that
