fixed under warranty

Postby bd-850 » Sun Jun 14, 2009 5:30 pm

hay guys, gave my car a real good clean on the weekend and noticed that the headlight has a scrach on it, and i havent parked it next to ANYTHING and nothing has parked next to me, and looking at a photo i took the day i got it i can kinda see the scratch but i have to zoom in very far, do you think i could get it replaced under warranty, and same with the steering it has a scratch in the wheel that looks like it was done by a ring, and i actually take my ring off to drive and no-one else has touched the wheel?

but on another note driving home today i got 7.6L/100Ks

I dont believe they will replace it under warranty, because theres no real 'defect' in the headlight.

Post up a pic of the headlight and the steering wheel aswell.

If they are decent about it they will. But when you accept the vehicle you are signing to say it's received in OK condition, so they can claim now it was done by you if they want to be tight asses....

Wait, so the car came with the scratch on the headlight and steering wheel?

If it did, kick up a mass stink. When cars come out of the factory their shouldnt be anything wrong with them

i think this one will be a hard one to prove since it's not really a defect and it's one of those things whereby on the balance of probabilities, an independent third party would have expected those marks to arise from normal wear and tear.

yeah well i know the headlight did, i can took a pick of the car the day i got it and if you zoom right in you can see it, just. and on the steering wheel i only noticed it yesterday while cleaning the car, its very small, but i know its there and it bugs me. will go off tomorrow and also book it in for my 1500k service.

but i baby the car, and i few times i have parked it down the street, i have parked next to a tree so no one can park next to me, or been a pain and took up two car parks

no harm in trying anyway

Well, if it came with the car, they should fix it no problems. Whether its mechanical or astetic (spelling?) the car is meant to come outa the factory near to perfect

Hard to prove though after having the car for a little while
I had the same problem with marks on the dash and one seat - I ended up fixing them myself.

Think about how much it should normally cost......and then multiply by 2 or 3......

Thats how much!!!!!
Everyone should splash out on some headlight and bonnet protectors. They pay off when driving behind council trucks or semi trailors!

Can't remember the exact amount. I think the headlight protectors from Mitsu are around $70 and a bit more for the bonnet. It looks good and does the job, but costs a lot due to getting em from a dealership.

Wasn't this a second hand/demo car?????

I don't think you've got a chance - the car wasn't new when you bought it.

Thats a good point Bandit. The dealership may say that the scratch was part of the reason you got the car for the deal they gave you. Wouldn't put it past those crooks!
Demo cars come with scratches and little nicks here and there.
