Buying my first CJ I hope - MY11 SX (50K) or MY09 VRX (70K)

Postby CalR » Wed Jul 02, 2014 12:58 am

Hello Everyone! Again... I posted this in the new members section. As a newbies first post, but got little traction. So, I'm sorry for reposting but hope I get more advice.

I'm looking at MY11 SX or a MY09 VRX with sunroof and the factory mod sound system. The Rockford one?

SX is asking $11900 with 50,000K
VRX is asking $13500 with 70,000K

Both have full service histories, the VRX comes with 3 year dealer warranty! Both are Hatches with almost perfrect body work. Both are manual.

What are your thoughts on both cars? I like the VRX more but it's asking for more and its a couple of years older? THanks in advance!

Mate what sort of feedback are you looking for? There isn't much different aside from engine size and the vrx should have luxury features like auto lights an wipers. I would get the vrx if it's been looked after because it's engine is a bit better. The forum is full of info just search.

Yeah, I've done the research, just was more curious about the price being fair on both cars. The VRX mainly. Both have log book services and seem well looked after. Thanks.

The VRX will probably go for 11k if you bargain hard, has 18's rather than 16's, 09 may be a 2.4 ltr. I'd probably go that way, unless you don't like the wheels and prefer to pick your own, otherwise cars are almost identical, and the small differences can be fixed fo a few bucks. Second hand dealer warranties are worth nothjg unless the engine falls out as you drive it off the lot. Do you really want to be taking it back there for services and paying htru the nosa for a damn oil chamge?

Thanks for all the replies. Seems pretty unanimous on the VRX.... no surprise. The dealer hasn't really wanted to budge much on the $13500 price. Being in Perth there isn't many going right now, so it's either wait or pay the price!

Just curious, what extras did you have with that? I only ask cause I wonder how ridiculous the 13500 asking price is.

Leather Seats?
Sunroof?
Rockford sound?

The one i'm looking at has the Sunroof/Rockford sound.

Yeah, your also paying "Perth" prices, which generally are more due to stamp duty and the fact that getting a car from interstate cheaper is just not viable.
