PLASTIDIP Front End and Sportsback Rear Lip!!

Postby Sportsback7 » Mon Feb 17, 2014 8:59 pm

Hey Guys, been meaning to do it for awhile but finally over this weekend ive had the time to do some mods too my car, Firstly I started off with the popular "Performix Plastidip" to do some blacking out.

Ive blacked out the front end on my car and taken some pictures of how Ive done it, personally im very happy with the result and for $30 a can (at Autobarn South Australia) it gives a lot of character to the stock bumper!

How It started off

Masked up and after afew coats

End Result, even went and blacked out above the grill where the chrome logo is (also done rear logo)

Next thing I have done is only for Sportsback models, I couldn't afford a rear diffuser or any expensive bodykits so I thought this was just as good!

Masked up

Ready to spray

After afew Coats

Finished lip, used a Stanley knife to cut around the edge for a clean finish

Very happy with the end result for $30 For all this Plastidip

Hope I have given you all some idea's and would appreciate some feedbac!!
Hope you liked what ive done, ive deffinatley enjoyed Plstidipping and 10/10 would recommend so far!

I have had white dip on my wheels for about a year and is holding up well, it is lifting an a couple of spots, however that is only on my two fronts where I have had the tyres changed and a puncture fixed, if not for that they should have still been almost perfect, just spray it with some general purpose cleaner before wash (if really dirty) and it comes up like new

looks awesome mate, it's when people take their time with prep work because it makes the end product look so much better so kudos on that!

I've been debating with the rear diffuser look also but i'm not sure if i want to plasti dip it or vinyl it…But now looking at yours I'm leaning more towards the plasti dipping.

All in all, great work can't wait to see more in the future.

I'm waiting on some black vinyl so I can DIY my own rear diffuser too (no way I'm going to pay upwards of $400 for one!)

I was thinking about using some black wheel moulding to line it off too, but I might just do the vinyl first and see how it looks.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and compliments, makes me even more happy with how it's turned out!!

Plastidipping the rear lip gave it a lot more character and was cheap, and also a lot easier then vinyl wrapping in my opinion Ashley however either way looks good!

As for the durability of it, hopefully it holds up well I've heard of lots of people doing it and it's been great..hopefully it stands the test of time!! :D

Yep I bought it from a shop 2 mins away, when I was looking into it I seen people buying it from America and was abit confused lol

When removing it at first on the rear I didn't use a Stanley knife so I had a small tough edge, so we went back over that spot and then used a Stanley knife and it came out clean as..front end looks perfect :D

I've had some VRX wheels with near new tires pop up cheap and I'm not sure wether to grab them and plastidip them or spend abit more on aftermarket rims...choices choices
