if its one of the two studs that go from the turbo to the manifold and the threads ok it wont affect anything Al, but if u buy an OEM stud to replace it it`ll cost u 20 bucks.

Turbo not affected at all - it was one of the bolts that attached the dump pipe to the turbo. I had a machinist remove it properly and clear the thread with a tap. The machinist said its fine. I'm bloody pissed as the guy I bought it from didn't mention it :x

Those ones are all fine, it was one of the holes connecting the dump pipe.

it is surprisingly common in the removal - once a machinist has removed and re-tapped, no difference at all to the turbo
we are fascinated by that which can destroy us...

Yeah the machinist said its very common in turbos and exhaust manifolds. The repeated high temperatures can sort of 'semi weld' them in i think, or possibly its due to the high temperatures changing the molecular structure of the bolts?

The machinist advised that putting bronze paste in the threads before re-install may prevent it happening again.
