yeah heaps of ppl in the USA and europe have used ravenol
people were quite convinced it was the same stuff, then some stories started surfacing about cars not behaving properly on it. who knows if it is coincidence or not!

Hey Adam, interested in this - how are you going to do a comparison?

If anyone has samples of each oil type I can compare viscosities - I work in a polymer lab so have a bunch of viscometers. This is probably pretty important.

Regarding composition, I can't get definitive compositional breakdown (we don't have the GC-MS any more ) but I can do an FTIR on different oils - this will show us if they are wildly different anyway.

I could also do a thermal analysis on it as well.

Combining all this info will show us HOW similar the different oils are. I wont be able to say 'this oil contains x% of blah and y% of meh' but, if two oils are identical, I should be able to show this.

I'd be happy to volunteer a bit of my time for the wider EVO/RA community if it will help us out.

I am looking at fluids from Castrol and Martini.
I have already looked at Pentosin FFL 2 and FFL 4, SSP Gold. And Willall. No need to test any of them

RRP on Martini is 165 per 5L tin RRP or something like that. so about the same price as Motul.
Castrol is hard to find but can be found for a bit less.
