Bad news Ryan...

Quick question - on your avatar it look like you've got a K&N air filter kit???

Did you do a before & after dyno run to see if it made any difference?

Cheers.

Cheers Ryan,
Just wondered 'cos I put one on the Monaro a few years back and got about 4KW over the standard intake, about 7KW from the extensive exhaust mods, but when I got a retune done, the improved airflow took the car from 186RWKW to 242RWKW with no engine mods whatsoever- the guy who tuned it said he wouldn't have achieved that without the intake & exhaust mods. Torque went through the roof!

I eventually want to do something similar on the Mitzi (when I save the pennies)

I agree with your comments on the Injen - the installation looks like a nightmare! - oh, and I know on the V8, you could hear the intake sucking in huge amounts of air without much difficulty!

I'm just wondering if a VRX (factory) exhaust system will a) fit and b) make any difference...?

Cheers!

It would fit wouldn't make much of a difference. RA/evo x mufflers back exhaust can be hooked up with a a custom mid pipe and some good headers

Hello again Akram!!!

:-)

I just want to keep it all 'factory' so as not to affect warranty - I've read conflicting posts on here - some say the VRX system is identical to the ES/LS and others that say that the VRX is the same as the RA and is a free(er)-flowing exhaust.

Might have to put a question up on the exhaust forum...

Thanks again!

Yeah that doesnt last very long. Like if you change your exhaust nothings gonna happen. Unlees your engine goes POP and then you take it to them with that exhaust system. They will then have something to blame it on...

Troo Dat - but I eventually want to get a 'mild' tune - I figure something easy like a K&N intake kit and a bit of a free(er)-flowing exhaust would be a reasonable (and cheap!) first step before I get a retune.

I'm just a bit 'anal' about stuffing around with a brand-new car...

...yes, I'll probably get over it eventually!

:-D

The RA muffler is technically OEM mate :D Anything that fits and is factory fitted from a Mitsubishi Lancer of that range is ok..

And as to things like headers and factory exhaust, if your worried about warranty keep your old one in the shed just in case something happened and you need to take it in under warranty you can just re-fit it.
