Hello All!

Well, as the title says, I'm new here and as a (hopefully) Good Citizen I thought I'd better introduce myself, tell you how I got here, what I've got, what I've done and what's next...

I see there's a LOT of people doing mods on their Lancers - it seems everyone I talk to or chat on email who has a CJ is very passionate about their cars.

I've loved the look of the CJs since I first saw one - that aggressive, yet stylish, balanced front end is definitely the most eye-catching of any 'affordable' car on the road today.

I was lucky enough to get a really hot deal on a 'demo' ES that had never been registered, never been driven, had nine Ks on the clock, but which saved me thousands off the RRP and made the purchase possible!

I expect no-one will be surprised, but I started buying upgrades/mods etc. before the car was even delivered!

I ordered the Lancer mid-December for delivery on the 31st - by the time it had arrived, I'd already purchased VRX alloys, a VRX wing (which luckily was already the right colour!), an LX touchscreen head-unit, Factory mats & seat covers, and a pair of second-hand headlight protectors.

Oh, and I'd already booked in for a light touch of vinyl!

So, anyway - after a nearly three-hour trip on public transport up to the Dealer I finally picked up my new Lancer and drove straight to Bridgestone Nerang to have the new VRX alloys fitted (thanks Miles!), along with a new set of tyres, then straight home - the next day I fitted the mats, seat covers and headlight protectors and went for a gentle fang. Couldn't wipe the smile from my face!

On the sixth of January, I went to Northfield Nundah to get a set of reversing sensors fitted, along with the LX head unit and the VRX wing - thanks to Roger, Scott and Dave for doing an excellent job - next stop was Complete Car Sound at Enoggera to get my Pioneer underseat shubwoofa fitted along with a pair of tweeters - a really cheap upgrade to the standard Factory system which has made a HUGE difference to the sound quality! A big thanks to Alan, Brenton and of course Garth, the Thinking Man's Lunatic! - again an excellent job...

Two days later saw the vinyl roof (that sounds massively old-school) put on, along with the bonnet trim and a matte-blackout to the front bar - I've since put on a 'trial' chrome strip around the grilles which I love the look of, but as the trim strip is narrow, it hasn't handled the corners too well...

Next step is going to be some unreasonably dark window tint, I'm going to put a blue transparent tint behind the headlight covers (so they can come off at nighttime and be legal) and I really, really want the VRX-style pods & side skirts, but I'll probably be out of money well before that happens...!

If this works - hopefully you'll see some photos of what I've done so far - if you guys have any comments or suggestions, fire away!
(if you're just going to slag off my colour choice though, don't bother...)

Cheers!

If you look closely, you'll see I filled in the holes for the number plate mounts in order to
give a clean finish to the blackout - when Santa comes next xmas,
I hope he'll bring a a set of low-profile silver-on-black number plates...!

Welcome!

What made you decide to stop the vinyl a few cm away from the edge of the front of the bonnet? ??

Hi Metalstrix - your "1 mod becomes 10 mods" is scarily accurate!

Didn't even need the car to start modding!

The good news is that I have no money laft and a badly bruised MasterCard, so I'll be taking it easy for a while!

Cheers!

I wanted to keep a 'clear space' around the grille area as I think this is the most attractive part of the front end didn't want to distract from it - also, I didn't want to cut it off at the end of the bonnet - where it cuts off is where the 'natural' curve of the bonnet/bumper line takes a 'nosedive' down towards the top of the grille... kinda hard to describe...

Keeping the 'blue' running over the top of the grille helps keep the definition.

I'll have to point and wave my arms around in order to give you a better explanation!
