hi this is my first post.. please help

Postby raihan_rahman03 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 11:09 pm

Hi all, my name is Ray. I have owned a 2010 Lancer Aspire for almost 2 years now. I joined the forum a while ago and this is my first post.

I was driving on the M4 last night and i heard a beep from the dash. As i heard the beep, all the electronics in the car shut off for a split second and reset. Even the headlights. A "Check (!)" appered on the dash aswell. I drove the car home and left it overnight.

This morning I tried to start the car and it started for about 5 seconds and then shuts off and keeps beeping and displaying error messages on the onboard computer. It seems to cycle through all the errors from check asc, check abs control module, and check (!). I am also pretty sure there was a check afs thrown in there aswell. Also the smart key or remote wasnt working this morning either and just tried starting it now n it stays on but the CEL is on aswell.. Any help would be much appreciated..
Thanks for your time guys.. Wish you all a merry christmas and a very happy new year.. Thanks again.

Welcome!

Apologies for not being able to help with this problem. ..
So, you didn't do anything out of the ordinary to the car before this problem? No bad history?
PRESENT: 2015 Audi S3

PAST:2009 Lancer ES called Lancee...

Can you start it again?

If not
Check battery
Check sound of fuel pump
Check for crank
Check for spark

Continue troubleshooting.

Because everything switched off while driving you will have a whole bunch of error codes active.
You can pretty much clear all of those. any that remain may help you narrow down the fault.

Assuming it was just some weird glitch: Disconnect your battery, pump your brake pedal, wait 10min, hook it up and try starting it again.

If its still not starting/showing errors you need to get it checked by a proper Mitsu mechanic for everybody's safety.

Reading about this makes me think a obd 2 scanning device and app is a good trouble shooting investment. Also for clearing fault codes.

Does that use a Bluetooth dongle like the kiwi to transmit data?

Firstly, thanks to everyone for your help.

My sister drove the car to and from Jarvis Bay. She came back the day before the issue occured. Now that i think of it, the issue only occurred the first time i drove it after she returned the car to me.. I have never had any problems with this car before. God knows what she and her friends have done to it..

I have checked battery, spark plugs and everything sounds fine. The car would start like normal but It felt like it was forced to shut down by the computer in order to protect the occupants within or the car itself.

However, on a brighter note, I started the car today and it drove fine all the way to work although the cel was lit up... Once i got to work i disconnect the battery as was suggested..

Got in my car to drive it home a few 7hrs later and the check engine light had dissappeared so im thinking (and hoping) it really was a glitch..

Really appreciate the help guys.. I will keep you posted the problem persists.. btw i know what im getting myself for christmas.. an OBDII scanner..

If your sister is going to borrow the car sometimes, a car recording system would be useful to see what really happens should a problem re occur. Glad your car is behaving itself now :D

A OBD II reader\scanner is must have item for diagnostics.
make sure that the scanner can read and support this vehicles protocol which is CAN.
you may actually still have an error code still stored in the ECU's memory but it may not be an active code. would be good to run a test to verify.

I find this rather interesting because if you cut power, the engine should stall due to fuel starvation...
