NEW MODEL LANCER NOT DUE UNTIL 2016!!

Postby aussie027 » Tue Nov 26, 2013 2:05 am

I am posting this as a new topic with extra links for everyone out there who has been waiting until 2014 for the new Lancer model to become available if they were thinking of upgrading or waiting to buy a new model one.

News stories on numerous websites this past week or 2 re future Mitsu plans straight from the company senior managers speaking at Tokyo Motor Show have laid out plans for the company’s new aims and models for the next 3 yrs.

The full copy of the press release can be found by clicking button on this link-

A new global "C model" car, ie the new Lancer is lowest priority and unlikely to see the light of day until 2016!!

This would explain the lack of any concept cars at any recent major shows and no camouflaged test vehicles being seen or photographed anywhere in the world for what will again be a globally sold car given the previously often quoted 2014 release date by the company.

The next model Evo XI, IF it is in fact built will definitely be a PHEV, ie a Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. That was confirmed too in several articles on numerous sites. Eg-

LOL. Yes guys I agree, the fugly factor could be high to say the least.
The 3 new style SUV they showed at Tokyo , even though concepts were ugly enough.

I would have thought that being a globally sold car and the fact they plan on reducing its size a little from the CJ the Lancer line would have been a major seller worldwide for the company and worth getting into the showrooms sometime next year given the current model is 7 YO and being left behind in many ways by the competition.
Even the recent reviews have said the same thing and the scores reflect that.

However, an important point to remember is that many makes and models of cars that are the Lancers competition despite great reviews etc can have and had major reliability and Maintenance issues that you don't find out about til later on, usually after you have bought the car.
The Lancer range has not really had any major or very common major issues I am aware of.

I will be holding onto mine which is 6yo next mo for a while yet so the delay is not really a big deal for me.
It does make me wonder how Mitsu will be able to update the range for the next 1 or 2 model years and how they cam prevent sales falling even lower because buyers are flocking to the competition.

any1 who has an evo or RA should cherrish these cars because they are a last of their kind, the next series of cars i dont think are gana be anywhere near as good as what we have now.
its like what ford did in the 80s with their mustangs, they are buckets of junk and every1 knows the oldies are the best
