It got a lot closer today than any other day (thanks wind *faint2* ) but we're still holding steady. The smokes calmed in the mid mountains from the Winmalee and Springwood fire. They're still burning and there are still fire engines all around, but everything seems under control for the time being.
As far as I know my school is still almost burning.

At the moment I'm just praying my CJ doesn't catch fire *pray*

I'll be heading into the smoke on Saturday night, I'm part of a 5 truck strike team which will be departing Terrey Hills and sent anywhere from Cessnock to Lithgow or even the Southern highlands. Hopefully get some great shots of the trucks in the smoke at night.

Sleeper and I passed a few large groups of fire trucks heading towards Sydney on the 21st as we were heading home.

There was alot of smoke taking Putty Road but we weren't too worried as cars and truck coming from other direction.

Reed that story gave me goosebumps! I hope you stay safe and got some great pics!

Doreen - What amazing footage! On our way to Sydney I saw a few places where fire had crossed the highway whilst we were driving to Sydney along the coast road and I was thinking how scary it would have been to experience it and how quickly it must have happened.

My house backs onto bushland and also ontop of a hill. I'm very concious that fire travels twice as fast up hill. Its so dry up here at moment the grass is crunching under foot. I hope we don't experience the same fate as NSW.

Stay safe everyone!

What a night, very smoky and very dusty. I was on the fireground from 9pm-8am. Not a wink of sleep, now trying to stay awake for when Bella finishes work. Then go to bed super early and try and play catch up.

Here are some quick pics I took,

One of our family friend is a volunteer firey and he said that it was one of the most intense fires that he's been in in like the last 10 years!!!

A lot of dust, a lot of smoke, 16 fire trucks from Hawksburry, Colo Heights and Warringah on one small fire trail, with an unrealistic area to burn which we managed to pull off with a very tired looking crew as the sun came up.

On the Wednesday with the bad weather condition predicted, they had 315 fire trucks on standby from 4 different states, 83 aircraft on standby and 2,000 fire fighters.

It was the largest group of organised fires tucks that Australia has ever seen!!

The Blue Mountains Fires are still burning Michael but mainly in remote areas at this stage *mad2* ... The firies are a bit concerned as tomorrow " Sunday " is supposed to be in the mid 30's & windy again so hoping it dosen,t flare the fires up more  This is a good website to keep in touch with the fires !
