Evo X Vortex Generator

Postby lancerdarryl » Fri Sep 13, 2013 9:00 am

Morning All,I am thinking about fitting a vortex generator to my Evo.I have had a look around and as usual there are plenty of different suppliers and prices.Has anyone fitted one to their Evo? If so what brand did you get and how was the quality and fit? Thanks Darryl

Hey man, I have one that came with my car, judging from what I have seen after looking around, its a Rexpeed one. Seems to fit fine, except I recon the way its designed, any amount of movement etc would scratch a line across the roof. There is also a gap around the antenna, so water may get trapped under it.

I have removed it now because of this. To be honest, if I was going to get one, Id probably look at the OEM style one, as it is flat at the font, and has rubber also, this would make it soft on the paint.

This is the Rexpeed one, see how it bends down, and the rough edge sits on the paint, this is where I recon it will scratch the paint:

This is the OEM (Style) one, see how the sharp edge is facing forward, and not sitting on the paint, they also have the rubber edge for added protection:

Personally, that's the one I would go for, and still may. there are a few that make the replica of the OEM ones.

P.S. I am not sure weather our cars use the Non-SSS or the SSS versions tho, I think it would be Non-SSS tho.

Thanks Kirtis the OEM style is a definite winner over the Rexspeed. That has narrowed the search down somewhat.I will see what I can find.

Yeah I was gonna post that link, it's an actual OEM one, and is about $400 shipped, pricey but is Mitsubishi made and is a perfect fit.

Oh yeah my bad, I read a bit about that particular one, a few people in the US were running them because they are a replica/copy of the OEM one, are high quality, are proper CF, not Glass CF Or twill, and fit well.

If you can find a real OEM that would probably be the only better one according to what I have read.
