Btw depending on how you drive the Ralliart there is more then enough power to break traction. I can launch mine & spin all four wheels off the line or slide the back around corners quite easily so if you dont know what your doing the Ralliart is just as unsafe as any other can, especially if you hit boost halfway through a wet corner...

God almighty, any car ever made would spin the wheels if you dumped 7000 rpm on it, and even a FWD can slide the back around corners. I'm talking stomp the pedal in 2nd or 3rd gear and you slip the wheels.

Any kids as wreckless as yourself will thrash whatever they're driving whether its a GTR or a Micra, nothing will ever stop that.

I know a person that lost their license for doing over 45km/h over the speed limit in a Nissan tida so no matter what car p platers drive they will still manage to excessively speed

The real problem is not the power, but discipline and driving IQ. For instance, the RA is my first fast car, but I haven't had a ticket unlike in much slower machines when I was younger. Car control is something most youngsters don't have. Once they get their licences, they just drive like there's no tomorrow, accelerating like hell. They wouldn't have the slightest idea on how to react in changing conditions, thus, accidents galore.

These turbo laws are too neglectful to be even remotely effective. A P can drive a fast diesel BMW, but not a small petrol hatch simply because it is force induced. It also doesn't help that our road authorities prioritise profits over anything else. There are a myriad of ways to genuinely improve safety. With the heft we pay to buy, register and maintain our cars compared to other countries, our roads should be silky smooth. But we have third-world like potholes everywhere.

Countries like Germany and Finland train their youngsters to respond properly in the worst conditions. They are mindful of others and think ahead. Speed kills? There are more fatalities in Melbourne than the entire Autobahn nation. Germans understand that it's human nature to want to drive fast, and they cater to that where possible. Obviously, that's not respected here, so people will look for any place to speed, disregarding any hazards as long as no police or cameras will suck their wallets dry.

Until everyone is on the same page, Australia will never be a great place to drive around. But now that these turbo laws are slowly getting abolished, we might have some sense of hope after all.

I think they reworked these new P plater 130kw/tonne laws specifically because of the new Ecoboost Falcon engines (2 litre turbo 179kw, 353nm). Fortunately (or not), the inadvertant side effect is the Lancer Ralliart has similar stock power outputs on paper.

But just you watch - they'll screw it up. Because the intention is to allow turbo for efficiency vehicles to be available for P platers, the Lancer Ralliart (and Evo Ten) cannot be categorised as 'efficient' by any means and will probably still remained banned.

It would be pathetic if the Focus ST will be banned as well, as it has the same engine as the Falcon. All these restrictions are plain bullsh€t in the first place. Smoking while driving should be prohibited before any of that turbo nonsense.

Agree...it wont be as simple as that rule...the cars will be nominated inmy opinion...Its for the so called efficient cars and Turbo diesels
Also...if the cops see one mod like exhaust or anything it will be off to the pits dyno...so really no point and not worth it as the Ralliart walks a fine line. A couple of simple mods and its way over the /tonne rule thingy.
This thing will be a gold mine for the cops...the actual law will be pages and pages long not just one simple broad statement because this would open up so so so many cars like the new Nissan SSS Turbo etc etc etc
