NSW -September 21st - Wollongong Cruise + BBQ

Postby belle_tb_ES » Tue Aug 06, 2013 9:49 pm

Hey everyone

With the help of fellow Club CJ members, I'll be organising a cruise and meet (+a sort of BBQ/picnic day)

It appears that the meet will be:

DATE: 21st September

Meeting LOCATION:

1. Those who want to go down Galston gorge, we will meet at Dural Mcdonalds - Corner of New Line Road and Old Northern Road, Dural

TIME: 09:30 AM

2. After this, we will head over to Liverpool McDonalds; 2-20 Orange Grove Road, Liverpool.

TIME: 10:45AM

-End Point: Stuart Park, Wollongong

Image

Extra Info: the aim is to meet up to form a group, then cruise down to Wollongong together. Once there, we will have a BBQ/picnic. Bring your own snacks (and extra drinks). I'll be buying meat... Most likely sausages and bread (if anyone can't/won't eat them, let me know, and I'll make arrangements with you)

Also, any car is welcome to come, so you can invite your friends to come along too :)

ClubCJ does not condone racing on public roads here so please don't suggest it.

I'm happy to go anywhere, its been awhile since I've been to a meet. If possible, even somewhere in the City that could support us all would be a neat idea.

I reckon since the Sydney city is so compact, I reckon avoiding the city is a start otherwise we'll all be scattered over it haha.

The last drive like the Kiama one (i heard) was actually quite good. Something similar to that? Maybe a BBQ day or something?

True Tom. Way too confusing and hard to get to.

A bit too far Ken..hahaha but that would be a good one for a major cruise

How about Rouse Hill?

It depends on what everybody wants. I'm not organising it around my availability. If I can't come, I'm still more than happy to organise it.. But I was leaning towards a Friday or Saturday night

belle_tb_ES wrote:galston gorge rd? Bobbin head?

The road down to Bobbin Head is a bit short of a drive + $11.00 entrance during the day.

If you guys do head out that way, I've found the following route to be the most fun during the day: http://tinyurl.com/mof58o6

From McDonalds of Mt Colah, the drive starts off with a few kilometres of highway driving to warm up the engines, followed by hairpin turns down the verdant Berowra Heights mountain, a ferry across the beautiful Berowra Waters (it's free; there's a waterside cafe/restaurant with fish & chips and of course, coffee), moderate speed single lane country driving to and through the sleepy town of Arcadia; and finally a spirited drive up Galston Gorge to McDonalds of Waitara - literally two minutes up the road from the Pacific/Cumberland Highway intersection offering access to multiple routes home, wherever that may be.

Of course the above could be done in reverse, finishing to coincide with the closing of the Ku-ring-gai Chase and Bobbin Head Road tollbooths for the day, to allow for a drive down to, and through Bobbin Head (thrilling 80km/h run on a pencil thin road) and up to Turramurra (a bit slower, but many nicely banked turns).

On the other side of Sydney, there's always the country roads near Shane Park, which are also close to various go karting and paintball centres.

By the way, how often do the major cruises happen?
