EOI: CCJ Victoria Dyno Day

Postby squala » Tue Jun 04, 2013 10:39 pm

Everyone will probably want to have the confidence to know how much power their cars are making. It can't be better measured than by a dynamometer.

As some of you may know, Skylines Australia held one in RTR Dandenong a few months ago. If ever ours goes through, the venue will be the same, as they have the most honest equipment in the country.

Ideally, the dyno day will be on a Saturday or Sunday, with around 20-25 participants. The entry fee will probably be about $60, around the same price as the Skyline guys paid. Normal price is $100-120, FYI. Priority will obviously be for Lancers, then we can probably invite other mates in case we don't reach the minimum number of cars required.

We'll see first how many people respond, then we can make further arrangements from there.

Cheers

Wow, this looks really promising. Let's wait for some more numbers, then I'll make an enquiry with RTR.

I put together the one for Skylines Australia (I am on the SAU committee). Good luck getting enough Lancers to hit the minimum, even we struggled to get numbers because people lack commitment.

It's also a very long and exhausting day and you should be prepared to accommodate a crowd for a whole day.

To get interested numbers is one thing, but to get people to actually participate is another (and a common problem on here as well).

But having said that, if you have any questions about a dyno day, I am happy to assist.

What was the minimum number that RTR required? is this flexible? will they negotiate in how many cars they will do?

20 cars minimum. I'm not RTR, I can't answer the rest of your questions :P

You do have to remember that they are also giving up a day of business/work to run it, so make sure you make it worthwhile for them

It's best to pre-pay the amount so that (1) it's worth RTR's business, and (2) to ascertain people's commitment.

The next hurdle is the actual date. So Oscar, how was the date of SAU's dyno day determined? As in how did the participants come up to an agreement to hold it on that particular day? Is it best for someone to drop by RTR first, then when they give their available dates, we can just vote here?

Cheers

I have a calendar that I maintain with the events of pretty much every single car club out there. I looked forward and chose a suitable date that had nothing major on it and that would still have good weather and be far away enough to allow for all the planning. However, a SAU Dyno Day is an annual thing and is well known, so there is a lot more that goes into it than what would be required for a ClubCJ Dyno Day. All you have to do is to get enough cars to justify the day. This is a tiny club so your dyno day would not affect the greater public's perception of the event as to whether they would go or not and majority of people have no idea what ClubCJ is and most likely have never heard of it. So stick to it being a club thing and you would have better success.

I would suggest your best bet is getting some dates from RTR as to what would suit, put up a poll, decide on a date and then get firm numbers and get payment up front to ensure people rock up.

RTR will have likely 2 staff there on what would normally be a day off so you want to ensure people don't pike on the day.

they have a BBQ there so you might get someone on the tongs and do some "flesh in a bun" lunch :)
