belle_tb_ES wrote:Its funny...you dont have to even write something up about why you should win or why you are the better candidate. If you were already elected from the previous year, you get judged by how well you did that year only...without the opportunity for newer members to have a chance and show what they can do, and they go to the trouble of trying to express why they should win, when obviously it has already been decided who will win. Anyways Im not too bothered. Its just a weird process. CONGRATULATIONS to all the new/continuing mod members. Hope everything goes well. :) :) :) :)

Well Annabelle, I guess you are finding fault with your fellow premium members and how they choose to participate in the election process.

As with any election, even with, for example, our upcoming Federal Govt elections, a lot of electors wont base their vote on the merits of each party's policies, but based on personality of their leader. Likewise on here, it's for sure some people paid no attention to what you or others wrote but based their vote purely on personality.

There is nothing anyone can do to change this sort of voter behaviour. It's up to voters if they pay attention to what you write. We provide the opportunity for "fresh talent" to tell people what you are capable of or what relevant skills and experience you can bring to the role, to address the handicap you point out. The other option is for over time to build a high profile with your participation and engagement in the forums and once people get to know you will vote for you instead of the incumbent.

I'd have to question your accusation of "obviously it has already decided who will win" - if you have an allegation of impropriety on how the elections were handled, please put it out there with details.

If you have suggestions of a better process then let us know. We could scrap the opportunity for potential candidates to sell themselves but that would just advantage the incumbent, which is the crux of your complaint.

There was no intention of making accusations against the incumbent, but in the interests of equal opportunity, the conditions should be equal for each candidate. Therefore, each candidate should be required to put forward their case for being elected so that each member can make an educated choice. I do not think that it is particularly fair to assume that voters either in the political arena or in this club aren't intelligent enough to vote for a candidate based on their merits or their policies.

Congratulations to Megatron for being voted QLD state rep in the re-run of the Queensland ballot!

These were the results from the previous ballot that had no clear winner.
1st place pulled out and 2nd and 3rd were tied.
