Hi Guys,
I’ve been browsing through the forums a lot recently since ive purchased my SX lancer about 3 weeks ago now, getting ideas and tips so I bought myself a pair of Fog lights from EBay.
I was going through the wiring and it sort of makes sense, I have found the grommet to run the switch wire though easily.
When I was looking behind the 3 switches that are factory I have one for The traction control which is the centre one but both on either side are blank.
When I pulled that part out I noticed there was 2 harness with cables attached to them. I pulled out a multimeter and found 12V when the lights are on so that would be perfect for fog lights that only work with the lights on.
Does anyone know what they are for? Attached are photos of them and my wiring harness from eBay
I can’t find any wiring schematic online for it can one anyone please tell me?
How would I go by using that 12V that work from the headlights being on to power the fog lights?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Do you need any 12V source ?
Get yourself a multi metre and find out which wire is 12V
I used the exact same switch placement for my underglows, all you want is power to run from the switch to the foglights (im assuming you have a switch for your foggies)
Getting some foglights soon for myself and I plan on doing the same thing as I did on my underglows and interior LEDs.

I would assume so? does not need to be from the battery i dont think.
i have found a 12V source when the headlights are on from the 3rd switch (closet to driver door)
yeah i have the switch for it.
but just trying to see what those harness already in the car are for??
i downloaded the manual i could not get it work on on windows 7, so i saw the online one. and the spare switches are for the level control and some other type of light not sure exactly what though. so i guess i can tap into that power supply and use it for foglights.
so the fog lights will only work if the low beams are on.
will post up the results when i get a chance.

They are unused connectors for buttons that the Evo has.
I'd be somewhat concerned about connecting things to them for power as they're connected to the ECU, but I don't really know what I'm talking about there.
Also, you don't want them powered by headlights because thats illegal. Even if you don't care its illegal, you'll get pulled up for it. Fog lights are meant to be used by themselves, so they need a switch and a constant power supply (like ignition).
And if you wanted them powered by headlights couldn't you just splice them straight into the headlight cables under the bonnet rather than in the cabin?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you want to do...
