zedd82 wrote:@belle_tb_ES They head lights you purchased are only Halogen Projectors, not HID Projectors that is why they sent Halogen bulbs. There is a difference in the projector lenses between the two. If they sent you HID bulbs they would be illegal to use as those head lights are not self levelling and your car does not have head light washers.

ah nice write up there andrew that shed a little more LIGHT on the subject .

I bought them (headlights and bulbs) from mars performance.
I think they shouldn't write on their 'HID' AND 'XENON' if they aren't. I'm sure I won't be the only one to get confused. I wanted 5800 K bulbs which is what I paid for ...but if 6500K is brighter than who cares? As long as I wasn't overcharged ( and they aren't illegal).

Oh yes...the whole HID debate. Ill be talking to someone about that. There is a lot of ifs and buts.

Very funny Ken

I thought this particular type of lens could handle HIDs?

6500k doesnt necessarily mean brighter. The kelvin is a measure of heat and hence the colour of the light. 6500k is a lot more blue than 5800k. I think the legal temp is 6000k which is pure white

Someone correct me if im wrong.

yeah 5500k is around pure white..anything less is yellow-orange and more is blue-purple. Yeah belle those lights have HID and xenon written on em but definaetly arent HIDs.....the projector housing that our lights have can handle HID's though i wouldnt go higher than 6000k which are pretty blue.

The Kelvin numbers (ie 6500K, 4300K) don't reflect on the bulb's brightness, but rather the colour of the light output. The higher the number, the less light is actually produced or our eyes can pickup.

If you compare a 6000K bulb with a 4300K bulb, you may find that the 6000K bulb looks brighter when looking at it directly, but when you sit in the car, you will notice that the 4300K light makes everything more visible at night.

I personally wouldn't go higher than 6000K as that is just on the edge of becoming blueish.

I myself am looking for projector headlights also as I don't like the stock ones. Eventuall I will find some nice ones :)

That's it. I'm telling them about the mix up. My first car had crappy lights (well the.lens I guess was to blame. all calibras had crappy lights from stock) but still. Driving around with lights that have little light output sucks. I'm not doing it again. Time to take a stand!! Jks hahahaha
