It's Getrag in germany
I know SSP in USA have documented pics of every solenoid and circuit board etc when they did a complete tear down of an SST years ago

probably most important would be to ID the processor/chip running the show?

Correct.
And anything that stands out.
sometimes they leave behind pins or headers for engineers to do complex diagnostics.

I guess the question would also be,
Has anyone attempted to contact Getrag and asked for information on this CVT?
I mean if i was to purchase a transmission directly from them, i should be provided with a set of tools or at least pointed in the right direction on how to program it?

Just a thought.

i believe people have tried contacting them directly, yes.
there is also a guy from Getrag who occasionally visits EvoM and, well probably laughs at our feeble efforts. but does give out good info every now and then :)

nope :(
that seems to be hard-coded into the transmission itself, not the ecu.
but boy would i like to figure that one out!!

In the states the cvt and sst are two different transmissions so i a bit confused. lol The cvt itself is made by Jatco . Model number is F1CJA is what my manual calls is. I think it is referring to Mitsubishi's part number not Jatco's. if you goto jatco's website they list it as a JF011E, but the galant fortis is listed a vehicle it is in. link below. maybe the usdm is different? Picks of the circuit boards would be awesome! then we could see what chip set was used and see if they left behinde some jtag or debugging ports!

Yes CVT and SST are two completely different beasts!!

SST is what we are currently trying to crack open, for the RA and Evo guys.

The CVT as you said is built by a different manufacturer.
We also have a few little tricks on the ecu side to make it more responsive but not that much, really. no one has looked into it too much I don't think!

cool. i hope the community cracks them both open! of course im interested in the cvt side :) so if anyone does come across any documentation, pics ,ect of the cvt or TCM or anything related to the cvt i would LOVE to see it! but GL with what you guys are doing!

This might prove further difficult unless someone can get their hands on a transmission and strip it down.
Jatco is owned by Nissan.

yep that is correct. need to find a wrecked on and see if the tcm could be obtained. that would be my best bet. im not even sure where it is located in our cars...

What is it you guys want the CVT to do, or not do, anyways?

Our SST concerns are largely built around finding and disabling/altering the torque limiters that seem to exist in the unit itself. ie no matter what we do on the ecu side, at a certain level of power/torque it just lets go to protect itself.
Pretty much everything else in terms of shift speed and quality we can control on the ecu side these days. We've learned a lot in the last year or so :)

i would like to know if there could be a way to adjust the "virtual gear ratio's" i guess it would be called. it really depends on what can be controlled. i would hope they would be different maps? sport mode vs drive ect. i personally would also hope that by being able to have some sort of control of the tranny would help us cvt guys maybe go turbo and sustain reliability out of our transmissions. plus im a computer nerd and love to reverse engineer :)

also maybe a way to raise the rev limit.

For me it a curiosity and if any small improvements can be made.
As an example; replacing the metal bands (chains) if possible.
And if something like adding cooler into the CVT oil loop will allow us to push it that tiny bit further.

I know to not expect tire blazing improvements here. but maybe with a better understanding of the design and how Mitsubishi have configured the software we can learn how to best drive the thing given its limitations .
Making changes is another thing altogether.

I guess really I'm on the hunt for more information.
