Can I remove front seats that have side airbags?

yep been down to car looking for "SRS AirBag" labels in my car just before & found correct foe a ES anyway..

Until mid-late 2009, ES Lancers didn't have side and curtain airbags.
You can try other racing seat brands like Cobra, Sparco and Corbeau. There are some products in their lineup that also have side airbags.
If you're going to query with insurance, always ask for something in writing if your seat mods are acceptable so that you have something on hand should you need to make a claim later on. Call centre operators will just tell you anything, and when trouble comes, it can be really big.

You would need to mount them on the same side as they would be mounted on in a US car, but you would need to remove the weight sensor from the right seat to the left seat. You can't simply swap the seats because the seat belt clasp is on the wrong side.

Short answer NO The car is certified with these safety items you cannot remove or modify them in any way.
