Either the BMW 3series or the golf r32. Saw a p plater In one the other day it looked really nice especially with the new golf r wheels in black on it. I initially thought it had a turbo though

nava1990 wrote:why not an aspire? i wont ever buy anything which is close to a 100,000 let alone for 30K man. Coming from a fellow P plater you should also consider how much you will be paying on insurance as well, surely a Lexus will still be more than a lancer? Good luck in everything anyway buddy

+1 with this post. I'm also a P plater but my car is under my dad's name and he put me in his insurance. Insurance costs are a major pain when you're a P plater and also under 25. :/ The Lancer Aspire would be a great choice to be honest, you can get one brand new in that 30-40k budget if I'm not mistaken.

Also, the R32 4-Door isn't legal for a P plater to drive. :/ Well I know in South Australia it isn't. Would be good if it's an exception over there, but as Nava said, insurance will be sky high already and especially because it's turbo and you're on your Ps it'll be even worse.

As I said, maybe silly for P's, but it is legal (in Vic anyway) as its a non turbo 3.2L v6

OH! I thought it was turbocharged, apologies. Thanks for correcting!

Jeez, how could we all have forgotten about the Toyota 86? I love to have this as a second car if only there was a budget for it. Get this while you still can!

Problem with the 86 is the long waiting time. My friend placed an order for one in a week or two ago. He was given an estimated waiting time of a year and a half :/

What do you actually need out of a car? A4s, R32s and 125is are all very different vehicles.

And what is the restriction you have - just no turbo?

It sounds like you want a bit of a luxury cruiser, but preferably with some poke. How about a Liberty? If you really want a manual, it looks like its only available in the base model though. If you can take an auto, the 3.6R has everything you want. http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/detai ... ock&items=[Make:SUBARU,Model:LIBERTY,BaseEnabledBadge:3.6R%20AWD%20PREMIUM]&sort=~Price

If you want to go new, you could get an Accord Euro - Hondas in manual are a bit more popular than something like an A4.

Hope it helps :)

Oh, bugger, but by the time the 86 is available, the buyer might just be of age to choose between that and the RA. There will also be an influx of new hot hatches like the Focus ST, Gen 7 GTI and WRX.

Our dodo rules allow a faster R32 Golf but not a turbo/supercharged 118TSI for a P. That is very negligent legislation. Forced-induction has come a long way and is now employed for better economy and not just high performance.

If you need a new car now, there might still be a few Civic Type Rs around. They will probably be the last of those i-VTEC screamers, plus a slick manual shifter to boot. The Accord Euro is also very nice. The manual standard model should go for $30K driveaway. Auto is slow, don't bother with that. Another alternative is the XR6 if you want a family car and sports sedan at the same time, and perhaps somehow help the local industry. Don't buy an non-V8 Commodore though.

I think its the only car I could have bought that would make me not miss the lancer at all lol. The only thing I do miss is the extra room, but who needs that when I hit 10000 RPM :P

Even the obnoxious Clarkson really liked this car. If you can feed it, then it's great fun. I do hope that you got manual. :P

I would never buy a sports car in auto :P I'll try and upload pics but I think the files are too large, and I don't know how to minimise the file size?
