*HOW TO* buy OEM parts through Chief Buyer

Postby ofey » Thu Dec 27, 2012 9:01 pm

Background
So apparently I'm RUDE and I'm unhelpful, so once and for all, I think we need to put an end to this.

IF you want to buy something from the OEM Parts Thread here, this is a simple process.

FAQ
1. Check OEM Parts Thread

IF Part is listed and price is stated, PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME how much it costs.

If an item is listed, I am going to ignore you if you ever ask me how much something costs. I refuse to budge on this point.

If Part is unlisted, then send PM with Part Number or Description.

Finally I purchase everything based on PART NUMBER.
NOT the description.

2. How to guess postage?

I do NOT work for Australia Post. So your guess is as good as mine.
If the part is over 1.2meters, Aust Post Will not post it either.

If you need to guess postage, try Aus Posts site here.

Courier charges are usually about A$30 within metro areas. NT and WA usually attracts the highest charges.

I work in a University so usually, there's free packing material lying about.

3. How to pay?

I only accept payment through Bank TT.
The account details are here:

Name: CCJ GB Funds
BSB: 082991
Acct: 410686578

Process
So with those FAQ out of the way, here's a process.

You send me a PM.

Here's an e.g. of what I have to put up with:

DO NOT DO THIS wrote:Hey mate could i purchase XXXX from you? How much is it? Send me payment details and postage price. Thanks

The above e.g. already fails on FAQ Point 2.

You tell me in a properly constructed post please.
Here's a thought: If you CANNOT be bothered to type your request, why should I care replying to you?

For e.g.:

Buyer wrote:Hi ofey,
I'd like to purchase:

MZ380402EX - Outer Scuff Plates - Stainless Steel (Font & Rear):
RRP=A$137+ CCJ= A$112.00

My address is :
X Dilydale Village
VIC 4690
Tel: XXXXXXXXX

I've checked postage from AusPost 3000 -> 4690 to cost about ~ A$XX

Please confirm amount is correct.

I will then reply to you with a confirmation and will only order the part following clearance of your money into the purchasing account.

Finally,
If you are in a rush, please look elsewhere.
Much too hard to work according to someone else's schedule.

It's not all about me being lazy but our suppliers also do not stock EVERYTHING. Ordering rare parts needs time.

So apparently I've been told by some that I'm "super nice"

Thanks, it seems you are super nice. I will buy the parts on a Mitsubishi dealer. A few bucks can't replace a good experience. Good luck with your sales.

Can someone explain to me please, what is wrong with the process that seems to piss people off?

I go through great lengths to post prices with pictures and update prices on the site.

I even wrote a set of step by step instructions on how we can get things done easily and still people find this rude?

Nothing is wrong with your post Ofey. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone all of the time.

People see the words 'Chief Buyer' and expect that they can slap together a poorly worded sentence which semi-conveys what they are looking for and you will take care of the rest and deliver it to them on a silk pillow.
I blame the generation of over-indulged children who expect things to be handed to them with minimal effort.
Personally, I have seen nothing but utmost professionalism from you Ofey; you're doing nothing wrong at all :D

If they don't like how you do business then less effort for you. Maybe they do not realise that you are not a vendor who is making a profit but a canny negiotiator who does this in his own time for the club

+1 to what everyone has said above.... :P:P

If the persons complaining don't get and respect what you're doing, then they don't deserve the opportunity for the service you're providing.

Not too much to ask to be specific with your request, based on one of the best laid out and updated OEM product threads going....

Thank you Irving !!!

Before anyone thinks I give Megatron special treatment,

At least he gives me part numbers... .
At least he sends me money even before he asks for parts.
At least Megatron doesn't count everything to the very last cent.
At least he doesn't puruse me over PM for days on end for a part.
e.g.
"Hey

need controller for my radio.
What part number, what price, how much to post"

OK, What's wrong?

No part number,
Price is already provided on the OEM parts thread,
this guy's location is Australia.

Help me, help you please.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with you Irving
I find you very easy to deal with and always helpful and efficient with your transactions
Personally my dealings with you have always been a pleasure, I can't understand some peoples attitudes towards you or the services you provide to club members
Keep up the good work my friend

This is an old thread.
There doesn't appear to be a new thread or a Chief Buyer anymore. If that is right, Is anything being done to recruit a new Chief Buyer.
Or is the job being discontinued and seen to be too onerous!

The later. There is no intentions to get a new chief buyer or run group buys. It's just too difficult and the market of profit is very low due yo websites like Ebay

Good move,I've been involved in a couple of group buys and they were a logistical nightmare.More trouble than they were worth.

hey all I know there isn't a chief buyer any more but do we have any dealers in Victoria who won't charge us an arm and a leg for parts?

Eagle auto parts in Dandenong has bought out some of the Mitsubishi distribution centres and are clearing a lot of Mitsubishi parts at really good prices. I don't have anything to do with them other than being a customer.
