If hidden online status is so bad, then why is there a hidden forum topic a good thing?
Can understand lock down of admin, committee, but a hidden topic?

Probably the wording of "hidden" forum is not the best name for it, that was there before my time as admin. Anyone has access to the "hidden" forum as long as they have enough forums points to "buy" access to it.
There's nothing really hidden about it - other than, it's just another level of access for long term members that have built up enough forum points.
Perhaps you have a suggestion for more appropriate name for it?
As for the "hidden" status thing, that's a different kettle of fish altogether. The use of people sitting in hidden was used for subversive reasons - the illogical use of people sitting in "hidden" status and not showing as "who's currently online" but would out of the blue post in chat and forums - was changed.
