Diesel-Electric hybrid evo confirmed

Postby Alixxandar » Sat Oct 27, 2012 12:39 am

I was actually really disappointed to read this :(

Looks like I won't be moving up from the CJ when the next model comes around. A diesel-electric hybrid Evo is the complete opposite of what I believe an Evo should be.

To The nay sayers.

As for diesel...think the Audi LeMans racers, not the bus/truck.
The diesel will have a turbo. Have you driven an audi diesel recently? Or even the mazda cx5 diesel. They can rev like a petrol! In the mazda it is the superior engine.

Now for the electric hybrid bit. Perhaps call it kers. It will depend on the technology employed. Would think the evo provides opportunity to split the front and rear drive technology systems. Perhaps constant electric front wheel drive, sportyturbo engine charging the electricity and driving the rear wheels?

Cant wait.

Ohhh the torque - I always liked the idea of a diesel hybrid (I seen Citroen have done it), will be interesting to see how it's employed in this application.

If the new alleged configuration is just a good as any previous Evo's and can do it while only using 5 - 7litre / 100km, why not.
Love that car!

Couldn't agree more. It's funny how people can say they don't like a car or say it's not good at all when it's not even out yet.

Why is that?

Diesel cars can output some serious power. It's the way of the future. Diesel is being utilised in a significant amount of cars now, especially European. As for the hybrid, it's the way of the future - it's good to see more thought going into the environmental factors when it comes to choice. It's all about becoming more sustainable. If they can get the power with less emissions, then they will be doing something right!

Look they are moving away from the perforamce/ralley image and going for the suit and tie white collar market

Next year will be the year of shit cars (sport afordable range)

Diesel is a dirty smelly fuel. I dont care what you say about it its the asshole of the combustion fluids.
