You don't have to buy brand new. I picked mine up for $550 with tyres from gumtree. The tyres only had about 10,000 left on them, but still a good price.

If you quote a price you should stick to it, or let the person know during the job if its likely to be more, not spring it on them and then deny to their face that you ever agreed on said price. In fact, I would have been less pissed if he even had just been straight with me at that point and said they couldnt do it for the $150 originally quoted etc. Its mostly that he just bullshitted about it.
I'm completely with you there. There's just a growing number of rubbish shops in principle, workmanship or both. Written documents are always your ally then. I also had some regrets not putting everything on paper when it came to some stuff about my car, but we can always learn.

Erin, i reckon its more like an observation on their part and not criticism. So far i have not read anyone on this forum saying bad on anyones choices on any thread.
At the end of the day, its your car, your money, your choice. As long as your happy with it, dont mind the rest. I will fit 15" rim in my car if thats what makes me happy. So chillax

Considering you started this thread complaining about the place you were getting it done I think its logical for people to be interested in the fitment or workmanship...
Following your own logic you shouldn't have made this thread in the first place.
Don't make a thread about you if you're offended by questions towards you.
I think it looks good.
